Nokia Messaging Support Summary (Mar 3, 2009)

About the Service:

Nokia Messaging is a hosted internet service enabling end-users to use their existing POP/IMAP email
accounts to get push email service on Nokia devices
End users need to have an existing email account with a Service Provider (e.g. Gmail) other than
Nokia and use these accounts to subscribe to Nokia Messaging.
User sign-up to the service on a web page entering their email credentials (email address/username
and password) plus additional account information, also mobile number is needed to be inserted in
international format (e.g. for Finland +358401234567 )
After sign-up, a configuration message is sent to the device and the application can be downloaded and
installed following the given link

Important:

Nokia Messaging 1.0 is free until Nokia Messaging 1.1, when ecommerce will be introduced to countries
under Commerical Readiness.
A Nokia E75 Bundle will be offered in select countries. It includes Nokia Messaging permanently install
on an E75, including a lifetime subscription tied to the device.
Operator Readiness rollout is eminent.
User needs to be aware that there are possible data traffic fees depending on his/hers contract with the
operator.

Common Issues
To be able to sign up to the service consumer needs to have an existing POP/IMAP email account
Nokia Messaging is available for certain Nokia S60 phones, models are defined at
http://email.nokia.com
Sign up and usage of the service is free for Nokia Messaging 1.0 phase but consumer must pay any
data transfer charges which may occur from the data transfer (for the network operator)
If email password is changed it also needs to be changed at Nokia Messaging web site and in the
client, othervise emails will not be pushed to phone anymore.

As of week 9 the following countries have


achieved Technical Readiness:
UK, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore,
Australia, Spain, Venezuela, Italy, Denmark, Norway,
Czech, Slovakia, South Africa and Hungary. Indonesia
and Malayasia are scheduled for week 10 and will be
the first countries the Nokia E75 Bundle is launched.
All other countries are covered in the Wave 2 and
Wave 3 Rollout launch plan.

Nokia Messaging 1.0 is a free service to use on as many devices as a customer wished.
Nokia Messaging 1.1 will contain ecommerce, requiring customers to pay for service after the 30 day
trial period. This feature will be enforced only in the countries covered under Commerical Readiness.

For countires achieving Operator Readiness, ecommerce will only be allowed for customers
using Operator we do not have agreements with. All other customers will need to subscribe to
Nokia Messaging through their Nokia registered Operator.
9 The Nokia E75 Bundle consists of an E75 device with Nokia Messaging preinstalled. Once Nokia
Messaging is activated on Nokia E75 it contains a lifetime subscription.
Support
All Nokia Contact Centers, with the exception of China have been trained on Nokia Messaging 1.0.

Care should ask E66 and E71 users with a pre-loaded client,
if they want to upgrade the client. Some customers might not
want to upgrade the client if:
The pre-loaded version is working fine
They don't need multiple mailboxes
They express conceren about a possible the data charge
for the 2.5MB download
Note: Upgrading the client on E66 and E71 does not require
a firmware upgrade.

Freestyle preinstalled

Freestyle is already installed on the E75, but not set up. So


the purpose of On Device Setup (ODS) on an E75 is to set up
the Freestyle client.
