Thought Provoking Questions

Part 1.
The topic I find the most interesting in this chapter is the Goals of Organizational
Behavior because it displayed how behaviour of every person in an organization
affects the success of organizations. Managers need to predict, understand, and
influence employees behavior by assessing the four psychological factors affecting
employee behaviors. It has shown me the complexity of every human being. Every
person has varying opinions and beliefs and attitudes and from that, managers
could see how they would handle their jobs and on how they react to certain
situations and if they are placed on the right job. Therefore, it is a big help for
managers in assessing these factors that affect behaviour to ensure organization;s
success.

Part 2.
From the content in the chapter, managers should know more about Understanding
Personality Differences because every person has a variety of personalities, beliefs,
values and attitudes that one might have acquired from where they have grown up.
Every peoples characteristics would have a great impact on the success of
organizations. It is important for managers to put the right person on the right job
based on their personalities and characteristics for efficient and effective work
productivity. Knowing your employees personalities would help in placing them to
the right positions at work. Therefore, if they are fit into the occupations they are
placed, they tend to have higher job satisfaction. We also react differently to some
things. It is beneficial for managers to understand personality differences since it
has a big possibility that it can be a major source of conflict.

Q3.
According to Pappas, J. B., & Pappas, E. C. (2015), Individual behavior creates the
foundation for action in social, economic, and environmental sustainability and
potentially guides our ability to work with one another to make life-affirming decisions.
In short, it is a matter of aligning our day-to-day behaviors with our well-stated values
that will result in greater sustainable community action.

Suppose you are a manager and you have an employee who has committed acts of
absenteeism many times for nonsense reasons, which is a negative workplace
behavior. But you have figured out one day that she was one of the highestperforming employees and even recognized as employee of the month. Would you
tolerate her negative behavior towards work and keep her given that she has a high
performance at work and also, knowing that bad workplace behaviour puts your
company at risk or would you just fire her? If you decide to keep her, how would you
handle this employee?
