Civil Engineer - Yorkshire - Contract - 25 to 27 Ltd per hour

STR's client requires Civil Engineer to work in their Design Build business line, based in the Yorkshire
office. This is a 6 month contract.
The principal job responsibilities will be to prepare assigned deliverables for bids and projects which are
technically correct and meet project specifications. You will ensure all assigned work is completed on time
and within agreed budgets, identify options and recommend solutions to resolve technical issues. Typical
projects include wet well shafts, storage chambers, valve chambers and land / survey tasks.
Other responsibilities include the preparation of enquiry and order documents, to manage and control
sub-contracts to meet project objectives, to liaise with other engineering disciplines on projects to ensure
integrated solutions for projects to meet objectives, and to provide input to client training programmes and
O & M manuals for maintenance and operation of equipment.
The successful candidate will ideally have a Civil Engineering Degree (or equivalent) coupled with good
communication and report writing skills. Experience within the water and waste water sector would be an
advantage. You should be able to start as soon as possible. Standard hours are 08:30 to 17:00 Monday to
Friday, with the occasional site visit expected.

Our client is a Multinational Blue Chip Manufacturing company located in Lancashire.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Design Engineer to join their Engineering team.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will work within an active Engineering department, designing
bespoke engineered products to meet customer specifications.
You are responsible for:
The successful and timely delivery of all design engineering work allocated
Working to defined company processes and standards.
Generating Engineering reports and calculations
Applying design support to assigned projects
Your main duties include:
Supporting the Engineering Team to provide design engineering resource the firm
Performing design engineering activities within the Engineering Team.
Learning to understand customer requirements, company design practices and working to recognized
engineering standards.
Learning to understand and improve product design methods and procedures.
Recording lessons learned and applying them successfully on future projects
Participating in technical presentations and meetings.
Assisting in the communication of technical data to customers and sub-contractors.
Interfacing with Supply Chain and Operations as required.
Support and participate in company-wide improvement initiatives.
Support and participate in company-wide graduate training scheme.
Other appropriate activities as defined by the Engineering Resource Manager

Civil Design Engineer
MGF are currently seeking HNC qualified or Graduate Civil Design Engineers. ICE approved
training scheme provided. Specialising in temporary works design, your initial training will be
based at Head Office with opportunities for progression into Regional Engineering roles
thereafter. There are currently Regional Engineering opportunities in the North East, South East
and South West. The successful candidate would be expected to manage their own designs and
attend site meetings and inspections nationwide in support of their design work. Position offers
a high degree of responsibility very quickly for candidates with the right aptitude. Previous site
experience and use of AUTOCAD preferred.

In the engineering department you will report directly to the Design Manager and have
responsibility for:

Producing customer design schemes on a day-to-day basis to satisfy customer


demand,
Accompanying and assisting Sales Representatives to site and meetings regarding new
and future contracts where required,
Checking designs/drawings and carrying out site inspections,
Liaising with customers, sales staff and regional depots,
Producing one off project work as directed,
Maintaining accurate documentation and record keeping,
Contributing to the smooth and effective operation of the department.

Core skill requirements:

Civil Design Engineer Degree or HNC,


Experience of Ground Works,
Strong analytical and quantative abilities,
Good knowledge of AutoCAD software,
A professional manner with good communication and people skills,
Good verbal and written communication skills,
Ability to work within a team,
Strong organisation skills, details orientated and the ability to handle multiple priorities,
