Fiscal Year 2017 Billing Changes

A Sewer Study Committee has been formed to examine the future needs
of the Deerfield Wastewater Treatment Plants and to study the Sewer rate
and Billing structure. Studies have made it abundantly clear that the billing
rate has been inadequate to support services. With that information in
mind, the Sewer Commissioners have voted a new Sewer rate and have
increased the minimum billing and service fee. The changes will begin this
Fall with the Fiscal Year 2017 billing.

The Sewer bills will continue to be billed twice a year based on usage.
The Fiscal Year 2017 rate is $9.00 per 1,000 gallons.
A minimum usage bill will be $100 per billing (approximately 11,000 gallons or less).
The Service Fee will be $200 per Fiscal Year ($100 per billing).

Abatements for summer use will continue as in previous years.

Summer usage bills will not increase more than 25% above residents own
winter usage bills. Abatements are for residential owner occupied accounts
only. No abatements of less than $25. No abatements on minimum bills.
The Sewer Commissioners will hold a public forum @ the
Deerfield Town Hall on November 9th at 6:45pm
to answer questions and provide more information.
