How to prepare for the APICS CSCP exam

There are some 3rd party exam preparation resources found on the internet. Do you recommend them as a
supplement to the APICS Learning System?
Is there additional practice exams I can purchase for more practice?
Is there any other on-line exam simulators other than the learning system?
There is an app called APICS CSCP certification exam by ImpTrax Corp. Is it sponsored by you? If not, what is
your take on it?
Answer
The practice exams in the APICS CSCP online Learning System, and the practice exam that the instructors
have are the only APICS generated and APICS approved practice exams. There are other companies that
write practice questions for APICS (and other) certifications, but APICS does not review them, nor do we work
with these companies in any way. We cannot recommend them because we do not know the quality of their
exams. We do occasionally get complaints about these third party programs. Best advice, buyer beware.

Does the APICS Dictionary only define the concept or does it also define and apply the explanations?
Answer
The APICS Dictionary only gives definitions for the terms listed in the CSCP vocabulary list.

Sticking with the ECM, are the list of vocabularies in the ECM and online quizzes the best bet for passing the
exam?
Answer
No. The most current APICS CSCP Learning System, including the Learning System online quizzes and
practice exam are the best way to prepare for and pass the exam. The ECM is vitally important, but it is just an
outline and a list of vocabulary terms. The Learning System expands on that information and uses 150
references to help explain what all the topics mean.

For someone who has successfully completed the CPIM exam, how easy it is to get through CSCP?

We have found that when someone has successfully completed the CPIM exam, it is easier for them to
complete the CSCP exam.

What is the reason for the difference between the CPIM and CSCP content and exam prep - multiple manuals
and tests for CPIM vs one learning system and one exam for CSCP?
Does CPIM provide a more in-depth base of knowledge?

CPIM does provide a more in-depth look at everything that goes on within the four walls of a
manufacturing/distribution company. CSCP doesnt go as deep, but goes broader across the end-to-end
supply chain.

Can I pay to get access to the tests alone and not have to buy the books?
If I am registered for the CSCP exam, can I get access to the online pre-test, post-test and practice exam?

No. The CSCP Learning System is sold as a bundle. The tests are not very helpful without the written
materials.

I am 30 days out from my exam date. How should I study, what materials are best to study (tests, flashcards)
this close to the actual exam?
Answer
The APICS CSCP Learning System is the best tool. Without it, I would recommend the Exam Content Manual
and some of the references that it recommends.

Why is there a time limit on the learning system when you purchase it?

We want to encourage you to take the exam with the content fresh in your mind. Many candidates
procrastinate and we find that by putting a time limit on the Learning System, it encourages candidates to study
and schedule their exams.

The flash cards, glossary and key terminology all have the same terms. The dictionary has those terms in
addition to an extremely large amount of additional terms. Can you please confirm again - can I pass with
studying only the glossary, flashcards and key terminology and not the entire dictionary? This is, of course,
only in the definition part of my study plan. It's understood that there is much more content to cover!

The APICS certification exams are not knowledge exams. They dont just determine that you understand the
terms listed in the ECM. Certification exams are application exams. That is, they want you to show that you
can apply the knowledge in specific situations. The ECM exam content outline defines the list of topics that can
be covered by the exam.

Will APICS change the pass score for CSCP from 300 to 298 in the near future?
What percentage is it required to pass?

There are quite a few people that start with a goal of using the self-directed option to prepare for the exam but
find they need more help or direction for a variety of reasons time management, learning style, I need for
clarification of complex material.
Contact the local provider of the CSCP Learning System course in your area and explain your situation. Most
providers prorate their instructor-led course fee for those who own a current copy of the CSCP Learning
System.
To find a local provider, visit learncscp.com/classes-offered. Check with your supervisor or HR department
since you may be able to take advantage of tuition reimbursement for an instructor-led course. Many
companies and organizations offer a tuition reimbursement program for continuing education courses.

These books will be out of date. There was a major update to the CSCP exam content in 2012. In addition,
there have been minor updates since that time.

Yes. The 2015 Learning System was considered a minor content update, however, changes were made to the
materials.
The Learning System is updated every year to reflect changes made to the Exam Content
Manual (ECM), which is used to develop the current CSCP Exam. It is recommended that users review all of
the identified changes to determine if they are comfortable preparing with their current version of the Learning
System and noting the differences, or if they would like to purchase the most current edition.

Candidates who fail an APICS CSCP exam must wait 14 full days before retaking the same exam. There are
no exceptions to this policy. Retake fee is $450.

At this time there are no refunds or exchanges of purchases of authorizations to test or exam credits.

The APICS CSCP Learning System is the base study materials for the classroom course and includes a
variety of practice questions. The print modules include progress check questions at the end of each section.
The online portion of the Learning System incorporates practice questions through pretest, section quizzes,
module quick quizzes and the posttest. Learning System users also have access to a Practice Exam created
from retired CSCP exam questions and emulates the actual exam format. For instructor led classes, instructors
do have access to an optional final exam to hand out in class.

The SmartStudy tool was a new tool added to the 2014 APICS CSCP Learning System and is also included in

additional practice exam. I took that course over the summer and our instructor never provided that
information. How can I get access to the exam?

The Practice Exam is available through the main menu of the APICS CSCP Learning System web component.

Can you reschedule the exam date once you have signed up?
Answer
Candidates who need to reschedule their exam appointment within their chosen window can make
modifications directly in their My APICS account by accessing the online Authorization to Test Request Form.
Once logged in, candidates will have the option to reschedule their current ATT. Candidates must pay a USD
$45 rescheduling fee. Reschedule requests received less than 24 hours before the scheduled exam
appointment will not be accepted, and if the candidate does not test, the candidate forfeits the exam fees.
