Iron Fist: A Catalyst of Genuine Change

Progress is a nice word but change is its motivator and change has its
enemies.
Robert Kennedy
The President of a country is the father of all its citizens, the foundation
of its progress and the leader towards the development of a nation. Our
country, the Republic of the Philippines, has long been a democratic country
where all the citizens have all the freedom and liberty to live a peaceful and
meaningful life. Unfortunately, over the decades some of the citizens abuse
and misuse this kind of opportunity that our country offers. Some corrupts
the money of the people and people itself, some commits crime just to have
money, fame and power and some maltreat and disrespect other just to get
ahead of them.
There are many past presidents that the Filipinos elected over the
years and unfortunately majority of them are not solid and do not have
enough eagerness to eradicate and eliminate crime, corruption and terrorism
until a President Rodrigo R. Duterte became the 16 th President of the
Republic. A man who is willing to be bashed, criticized and judged by other
people who would do everything just to get him down.
He is the kind of leader who would give his everything just for the
common good of all those law-abiding citizens of this nation. Indeed, he is
cruel and merciless just like what some of his opponents are saying, but
many believe that his cruelty is for those who act like predators waiting for
prey to weaken and have the plan to eat them alive. The predators we are
saying here are the corrupt politicians, kidnappers, hold uppers, drug lords,
drug pushers, drug users and many more that are the cancer of our society.
In the first 100 days of President Duterte he already accomplished the
majority of the promises he made during the campaign. He minimized those
corrupt government employees in the Bureau of Customs. He encourage
policemen and soldiers to give their best in eliminating crime and drugs by
rigorous inspections, checkpoints and Oplan Tokhang. The examples given
were just a few to enumerate some of his achievements that has a direct and
significant impact to the Filipino people.
With the current policies and rules the government are implementing,
we can see a brighter, more developed, more peaceful, and more stable
Philippines in the future. Our President might have some flaws at times, but
that is our nature as human beings. We make mistakes, we reflect on them,
we change our ways and change for the better. A true President of a Republic
cannot be judged by literally counting his achievements and failures but by

the patriotism he has in his heart and mind and by the eagerness to serve
his nation faithfully without reservations.
