REFLECTION PAPER IN MORAL PHILOSOPHY

What actions do I do every day which promote and support the actualization of my
human nature?
What actions do I do every day which contradict my human nature and prevents its
actualization?
What actions do I do every day which promote and support the actualization of others
human nature?
What actions do I do every day which contradict others human nature and prevent its
actualization?

I learned in this discipline, that as an individual I have this

human nature that is distinct from other beings or other creations
and that is the ability to reason and at the same time I can think
and feel. Indeed I realize this fact because I am able to explore
my capabilities, creativity and potentials to the fullest. To quote
what Marlow said People who seek the frontiers of creativity and
strive to reach higher levels of consciousness and wisdom are
'self-actualizing' individuals.

Now, as to what possible actions

promote and support the actualization of my human nature?

Probably, when I choose among possible courses of action. For
example, I may choose to excel

in my studies and that I

frequently go to the library and scan and review my lessons, and

eventually I enjoy this activity, or I may choose to watch my
favorite cartoon character in the middle of my studies as my
learning style.

Each of these possible courses of action is

attractive, is of interest to me, because each, in one way or

another, actualizes some basic potentialities in me.

Moreover,

these actions state that each human being should use his abilities
to their fullest potential and should obtain happiness and
enjoyment through the exercise of actualized capacities. So by
executing these actions I actually feel satisfied and happy which is
my human nature.
On the other hand, what actions do I do every day which
contradict my human nature and prevents its actualization? For
example, if I feel inferior or worried of my life status for I dont
have financial advantages like my friends.

Though I feel like

going with them to watch movies or shop in a mall then enjoy the
convenience and fulfillment of doing it, of course I wont go with
them, thus I will not be able to actualize or exercise my
potentialities to have the pleasure of it.

This, I guess is a

manifestation of action that contradicts my human nature and

prevents its actualization.
Meanwhile, what actions do I do every day which promote
and support the actualization of others human nature?

For

example, my genuine friendship with a person and the activities

we share together like going to school together, attending
concerts and eating together that excite us being together are
few actions that probably promote and support the actualizations
of others human nature.

The fact that my friend feels the

euphoria of my being her company or peer, is the fulfillment of

her human nature to experience her potentialities to be happy.
As to the actions I do every day which contradict others
human nature and prevent its actualization is perhaps when I

degrade or embarrass someone in front of the public for a reason,

eventually she felt terribly shaky and enraged.

Possibly this

person will lose her trust to others and will develop and insecurity,
then shes not free to express herself to the fullest and chances
are that her potential to be happy as human nature is prevented
from its actualization. May be she will develop the tendency to be
lonely and will not seek others company. Her low self-esteem will
prevent her position to fulfill the needs for self-actualization i.e to
be confident and free.
This activity gave me deeper insights on how the courses of
actions could promote or contradict one in his actualization of his
human nature.
