Effect/purpose

David is the main character

of the short film. He tells us
the story of how he bullied
his friend Stanley at school.
It is his voice that we hear.

We get an insight into how

David sees and feels about
bullying his friend Stanley.
This makes us feel upset for
Stanley and angry at David.
Although at the end we hear
how David feels bad about
the way he treated his friend
and feel sorry for David too.

David tells his new friends

that Stanley liked to act like
a donkey. Davids new
friends teased and bullied
Stanley because of what they
thought he was like and used
the donkey act against him.

We feel annoyed and angry

about how awful David was
for letting people bully his
best friend from primary
school and laughing, and he
shouldve known better.

Link the explanation to

the concept of
Transformation
(consider the
context/values)
This is a great text that
shows through voice over
how a character can change.
David tells the audience how
he was a bully in his early life
and though picking on
Stanley was okay, but he has
now transformed his feelings
about bullying and feels
upset about his behaviour.
This shows even though
someone can be bullied, they
can positively change their
life. Stanley, who was lonely,
now has a pretty and lovely
wife, is unsuccessful but is
happy, David however, who
let people bully his friend, is
successful, but his girlfriend
left him, and is living a sad
life.
