IG PLANT AND COPT STARTING PROCEDURE:

1. Start generator.
2. Start FD Fan.
3. Line up all the pumps, Scrubber pump (first overboard, discharge, suction), Aux.
Condenser Pump (only inlet) and Condensate pump (all valves open).
4. Open Drains (if not already open) and check for water. Air eductor drain, COPT Drains
(3 valves), Main Steam Line Drain.
5. When there is no water from drains start COPT primping Pump (FOR COPT OPERATION
ONLY) (SHOULD BE STARTED WHEN NOTICE FOR COPT IS RECEIVED) (STEP NOT
REQUIRED FOR I.G.)
6. When there is no water from drains, crack open the Main Steam Line Warm Up Valve
and crack open Air Eductor valve (CAN BE OPENED MORE THAN CRACK FOR FASTER
OPERATION BUT HAMMERING SHOULD BE AVOIDED)
7. Crack open COPT Warming Up Line. See that shaft doesnt rotate. (IF COPT IS
REQUIRED) (WHEN NOTICE RECEIVED) (STEP NOT REQUIRED FOR I.G.) (IF WHILE
CLOSING THE PLANT WARM UP OF COPT WAS KEPT OPEN THEN STEP NOT REQUIRED)
8. Check for Steam from drains of COPT, Main Steam Line Drain and Air Eductor.
9. When Steam comes from drains, Shut all drains and open Gland Steam (Quarter
turn, max half turn, according to gland steam pressure)
10.When Steam comes from drains open the Main Steam Line Warm Up and Air
eductor steam inlet valve fully.
11.Start O2 analyser (Switch power and open air inlet valve{green colour})
12.Change Drain Condenser dumping to 18 bars.
13. Fire Boiler in High Steam Pressure Mode and switch on IG Mode.
14.Wait till the steam pressure reaches 12 bar. Open the Main Steam Line valve fully
(Slowly) and close the Main Steam Warm Up Line

15.Check the Boiler Water Drum Level. If it goes less or Measured Steam Pressure
value and Set Steam Pressure value has a large difference then Start the Main
Feed Pump and stop the Aux. Feed Pump
16.Near the boiler panel use the Main Steam Dumping valve Controller. Increase
dumping and set the steam pressure to 14.2 bars.
17.Dumping should be done slowly and adjusted according to the Set Pressure. Dumping
should be done in such a way that Measured Steam Pressure should be near to the
Set Pressure. Set Pressure will gradually increase so should the Measured Steam
Pressure. Adjust the final Steam Pressure to 14.2 bars.
18.Inform CCR to start IG Blower.

COPT STARTING:

19.When notice received, start the LO priming Pump of COPT.

20.Crack open the warm up line of COPT (If COPT is being started after IG plant then
dont open the drain otherwise vacuum will be lost)
21. Check if COPT shaft is not rotating on opening the warming up valve.
22.Wait for the time period given received at notice.
23.After the time period start the COPT at rolling RPM (300- 400 rpm) by opening the
Main Steam Valve of COPT and wait for some time. (NOT TO BE OPENED
FULLY...JUST ENOUGH TO ATTAIN THE ROLLING SPEED)
24.Increase the COPT speed at constant intervals of 200 rpm.
25.Keep on checking the governor position, it will start lifting. When the governor lifts
fully then open the COPT Main Steam valve fully and giving the controls to CCR.
26.Inform CCR.

STOPPING THE I.G. AND COPT PLANT:

COPT:

1. When COPT is tripped from CCR, Close the COPT Main Steam Valve. Check if COPT
shaft is not rotating.
2. Crack open the COPT Warm Up valve. Again check if COPT shaft is not rotating.
3. Press Reset.
4. Close the Priming Pump after some time.

STRIPPER PUMP:

5. When notice is received for warm up then open the warm up line for stripper pump
(quarter turn).
6. When notice received, Open the Stripper Pump Main Steam Valve (half turn only)
and close the warm up line.
7. Close the Stripper Pump Main Steam Valve when told.
8. After stopping the stripper pump, wait till the IG is required.
9. When IG is not required anymore, start closing the plant.

IG Stopping:

10.Switch off O2 Analyser.

11.Switch off High Steam Pressure Mode and IG Mode from the boiler panel.
12.Adjust the dumping valve. Close it fully.
13.Close the Main Steam Valve. (Fully Shut)
14.Close the Air Eductor Steam Valve. (Fully Shut)
15.Close Gland Steam
16.Open Air Eductor Drain. Check for water.

17.Close Warm up of COPT (OR CAN BE KEPT OPEN FOR SOME TIME WHILE DRAINS ARE
OPEN. THIS WILL REMOVE WATER FROM COPT AND DURING NEXT OPERATION COPT
CAN BE STARTED DIRECTLY WITHOUT OPENING THE DRAINS)
18.Open Drains of Main Steam Line and COPT (3 in number). Adjust the Main Steam
Line in such a way that water and steam doesnt come out of scupper.
19.Check for water from the drains.
20.After 2 hrs, Close Scrubber Pump (First Suction valve, Discharge valve, then
overboard), Aux Condenser Pump (Only inlet) and Condensate Pump (Valves not
required to be closed).
