Spiritual and Intellectual Benefits

The purpose of this paper is to explore an assessment in the workplace in spiritual and
intellectual benefits. The assessment is a reflection of my personal experiences from my current
employment working within a library. My interest was to find an assessment in spiritual and
intellectual concepts. I completed an assessment and analyzed my answers.
Strategies for Change
My findings from the spiritual benefits in my workplace was based off the Workplace
Wellness Inventory. I answered three questions relating to my current workplace in the library
setting as a library assistant. I had to answer my questions with true or false statements in a
range from always, sometimes or never. I selected all three questions as always. The first
question, Employees feel as though their work is meaningful and valuable. I agree with this
statement because of my role to work with my student learners and providing engaging and
meaningful tasks within the learning environment. The second question, Spiritual diversity is
respected and valued. I feel open to express my thoughts and ideas regardless of my spiritual
preference because I can often compare and contrast in 3rd person when I am explaining a
concept to my student learners. The final question, Employees are comfortable with the ethical
standards employed at the library. Educators and staff who come to the library provide positive
feedback with the ethical and welcoming climate. It was hard to decide a strategy for change in
my findings because I am comfortable with the current situation.
My findings from the intellectual benefits in my workplace was also with the Workplace
Wellness Inventory. There were two questions in this portion of the assessment with the same
range of answers. My answers were not as positive as my spiritual test. The first question,

Cultural and/or professional development opportunities are provided and/or encouraged by the
employer. I selected, sometimes as my answer because I often feel that my position as a
paraprofessional in the school setting is not valued or to be included. I receive little trainings to
attend and learn new learning sources for my workplace. The final question, Critical thinking
and problem solving are encouraged. I selected, never as my response because all meetings
within the workplace exclude my position among certified teachers. Support staff are not
required to engage in activities. Both questions shared equal concerns for changes that my
employer could work toward including activities with support staff or work shop opportunities to
challenge learning scenarios with student learners and teamwork contributions.
Strengths
The major areas my workplace is successful in is providing an open and comfortable
spiritual setting. My employer is respectful towards individual employees beliefs when
celebrations in holidays or events occur. It is not overly expressed or forceful when sharing
spirituality background. Messages of comfort during hardship or personal experiences provide
empathic understanding.
Leading to Healthy Lifestyles
As a leader in my workplace, I could ensure equal share of responsibilities to student
learning for all employees to be accountable. Within a learning environment, I believe it is
important for all educators to be equipped with their job details including an active role in
learners. The Workplace Wellness Inventory could be used as a tool to help determine the
wellness of my employees to provide helpful resources or solutions. By providing a caring
environment to others, my leadership role will also grow in care.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Workplace Wellness Inventory within two benefits is important for the
working environment. The health concerns within my workplace are reflected by my responses
from the assessment. I provided solutions by taking the leadership role to correct and apply
these concepts to my employees. It is important to have an environment with spiritual and
intellectual opportunities to promote health in wellness.
