Staff Reservoir Engineer - Houston

Job Purpose:

Provide reservoir engineering supervision and expertise for building and running
reservoir simulation models, generating forecasts, participate in development
plans, field appraisals, and conduct pressure transient analysis.

Responsibilities and
Key Objectives:

Provide reservoir engineering technical services for development of Afren assets


and exploration prospects. This position is responsible for analysing the
production data and creating simulation input files and Petrel static models to:

Suppliers / Agencies

Upscale geological models into reservoir simulation models


Build complex reservoir simulation models incorporating all available
data (Rock properties, fluid properties, pressure, test information)
History match simulation models, production and pressures
Provide feedback to improve or validate the geological
description/model. Work in collaboration with geologist and geophysicist
in order to improve reservoir description and models.
Run multiple prediction scenarios for the reservoir development. Actively
participate in the field development planning, work with the geo and
drilling teams on the optimum well placement based on the reservoir
simulation results.
Work on the uncertainty analysis incorporated into reservoir simulation
Couple reservoir simulation with the surface facilities network model, run
multiple scenarios and provide recommendations on the production
optimization. Work close with the production team to implement such
recommendations.
Develop production forecasts for base case performance under current
operations
New field development support working in teams to generate
development plans.
Evaluate alternative programs to maximize the value of existing blocks

Pressure transient analysis utilizing Kappa Saphir software

Flowing material analysis utilizing Kappa Topaze software


Provide expertise in specialized areas of reservoir fluid analysis
Mentor less experienced staff and graduate engineers.
This position will also interface with Finance for development of annual budget.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education:

Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering required and M.Sc. in Petroleum


Engineering preferred.

Job Knowledge, Skills


and Experience:

8-15 years of experience within the oil and gas industry. Experience in
reservoir simulation, decline curve analysis and petroleum fluids sampling,
analysis and characterization.
Extensive experience with clastic and carbonate reservoir systems
Experience partnering with other disciplines to develop integrated solutions to
complex problems.
Self-starter with good team spirit and interpersonal skills.
Effective communicator and presenter, both verbally and in written/graphical
products.
Organized, professional and has high integrity.
Interested and motivated to seek continued professional development. Eager to
train others also.
Good proficiency in Petrel, Petrel RE
Eclipse reservoir simulation expertise
Expert in Petroleum Experts IPM, model coupling
Expert Kappa (Diamant, Saphir, Topaze)
Good proficiency with MS Office suite - Excel/Powerpoint/Word.
