Description

For my senior project, I will be building an analog amplifier that will be able to drive two
speakers to be as sonically accurate as possible. The process seems simple, but building an
amplifier requires the knowledge of circuitry, but also whether X recording sounds better than Y
recording because of Z reason and if it isnt supposed to sound this way, how to fix it to sound
the best.
In my research, I will need to start with the basics as to what capacitors, transistors, etc to
use. There will be prototypes with, but not limited to, failed circuits, fried circuits, and
misaligned casings for the amplifier itself. That is where the learning comes in. If I do X, then Y
happens and I need to make X into Z to make sure Y doesnt happen again in the future.
Although I will be building an amplifier, I will need to build the amplifier to spec to my
personal headphones, a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50Xs and a pair of Grado SR80s.
It will be a difficult task with plenty of research, but it prepares for the future and
definitely gives experience in the field of circuits. My planned career is to record, mix, and
master music so building an amplifier will definitely prepare me for it.
