ECONOMIC REPORT
MAIN RESULTS
To commemorate 100 years of existence of
the Bucaramanga Chamber of Commerce in
2015, it is worthy to give an overview to
business sustainability through one of his
key services: the Company registration,
activity which was charged by the national
government to the different chamber of commerce since 1931. National and regional
business history is place in them.

In Colombia there a few firms with more than


100 years, and in Santander particular case,
according to the Bucaramanga Chamber of
Commerce, no one exceeds this age, although there exist 88 that were created
between 1916 and 1970. The above indicates that regional business activity is very
young, with a average of age that reaches
6,1 years.

These companies, although they are a few,


they have in favor more than 15 millions of
employments generated, annual sales over 3
billion pesos and now have types of company that offer better possibilities to extend
itself over the time.

The 88 oldest enterprises in Santander can


be found in different economic sectors, with
a great concentration, in terms of assets
investment, in public services, services to
the companies, industry, construction and
commerce.
Nowadays, these companies have a low
exposure to the international market; four out
of them are exporting enterprises, and in
terms of financial leverage with third-party
resources, there is no representation as an
issuer of shares or securities in the Colombia
Stock Exchange.
