Topic: The Plant Life Cycle
Standard: 2. Life Science: Analyze how various organisms grow, develop, and differentiate
during their lifetimes
Second Grade Standard 2.1: Organisms depend on their habitats nonliving parts to satisfy their
needs

Objectives:

Students will understand the what a plant needs in order to grow.


Students will be able to predict how different conditions will affect how a plant will
thrive.
Students will use QR codes to answer questions regarding the plant cycle.
Students will be able to complete a worksheet, placing the correct terms on the correct
developmental level of the plant.
Students will understand and be able to recognize and identify the main ideas of the plant
life cycle.

Instructions for students:


1. Students will download (or be given a device with) a QR reader.
2. Students will be broken up into groups of 2- 3 people (depending on class size)
3. The teacher will post various QR codes around the room. Students will be asked to go
through each QR code and answer the questions accompanying it.
4. QR code 1, the video: Plant Life Cycle Science Lesson for 2nd Graders must be watched
prior to answering any questions. This video gives important information for students.
5. Students will answer questions that are shown through each QR code.
6. Students will complete activities on all other QR codes.
