Colloquium Highlights University Funded Researches

At least 15 researches from the different disciplines were presented during the
Research Colloquium entitled Resounding the University Funded International
Presentations which held on May 27 at Bulwagang Bonifacio, A. Mabini Campus, Sta.
Mesa, Manila.
The presenters under the Education and Institutional Research cluster were Dr.
Armando Torres, Dr. Rovelina Jacolbia, Prof. Gisela May Albano, Dr. Silvia Ambag,
Dr.Carmencita Castolo, Dr. Evangelina S. Seril and Mr. Emejidio Gepila.
Dr. Jocelyn Rivera-Lutap, Dr. Lourdes Alvarez, Mr. Willy Gayo and Asst. Prof. Benilda
Eleonor Comendadors presentations were under the Science, Engineering and
Technology Cluster.
The Social Science, Communication and Humanities cluster included Dr. Elmer G. De
Jose, Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin and Prof. Hilda Felipe-San Gabriels researches while

Prof. Leonila Generales was the sole presenter under the Business, Economics and
Cooperatives Cluster.
The fifteen researchers have presented their respective papers in different seminars
and conferences abroad.
President Emanuel C. De Guzman congratulated the presenters for the cultivating a
culture of research in the University.
Dr. Napoleon K. Juanillo, the Director of the Office of Planning, Research and
Knowledge Management at the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), also
delivered a speech discussing the state of higher education and the Commissions
plans for the coming school year.
The event was headed by the Research and Extension Management Office, an
administrative department under the Office of the Vice President for the Research
Extension, Planning and Development.

Details of the event:


The Central for Technology Transfer and Enterprise Development (CTTED),
under the Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO), of the Office of the VP for
Research, Extension, Planning and Development (OVPREPD) under Vice President
Manuel M. Muhi launched its annual exhibit with the theme Towards Social Capital and
Innovation. The event was held from the Ground Floor to the Fourth Floor Lobby of the
Sound Wing of the PUP Main Building. The participating colleges were the College of
Engineering, College of Science, College of Education, College of Business
Administration, PUP Laboratory High School, Open University, College of Computer and
Information Sciences and the Institute of Technology. The participating campuses were
PUP Quezon City, PUP Taguig, PUP Pulilan, PUP Maragondon and PUP Sta. Rosa.
The said event focused on three product categories, such as: INNOVATIVE
TECHNOLOGY, PRODUCT: FOOD CATEGORY and PRODUCT: NON-FOOD
CATEGORY.

The event showcased the innovations developed by the different colleges and
campuses of the university. The aim of the event was to facilitate linkages between the
university and different industries, and forge academic-industry collaborations.
The seminar opened with Dr. Elmer G. De Jose delivering the welcome remarks,
while the University President Dr. Emanuel C. De Guzman gave the inspirational
message. The President commended the students and the participants for their
creativity and ingenuity in coming up with highly innovative products. Keynote speakers
were Mr. Henry Campos, Sales and Marketing Officer, Bakerite; and Mr. Wilson Lee
Flores, Manager, Kamuning Bakery Caf. Both of them shared their secret for their
business, especially on cakes and pastries.

The objective of the annual contest is to develop entrepreneurial culture among


PUP student and promote entrepreneurship as a major component in economic
development. Nationalism instilled through the indication of values that gives
importance to indigenous materials. Ten finalists were selected by a Technical Review
Committee from numerous entries submitted by different colleges and campuses.
Members of the Technical Review Committee were Prof. Jerome Dumlao, Prof. Ma.
Teresa Corrales, Prof. Angelita S. Villaruel and Prof. Joseph M. Lardizabal as Chairman.
The winners of academic competition are invited as guest speakers in Magnegosyo
Tayo a radio program of PUP-PBS at Radyo ng Bayan every Wednesday, for them to
discuss details about their product. Entries were judged based on the products
innovativeness and creativity, socio-economic impact, maketability, relevance and
management.

Tanglaw Run 2015

In the spirit of building a strong camaraderie among the students, faculty, administration
and the alumni, the Federation of Alumni Associations in PUP, Inc. (FEDAAPI) is inviting
everyone to join and participate in the funrun dubbed as Tanglaw Run for FOI (Freedom
of Information) on October 2, 2015 at the Quirino Grandstand, Luneta Park, Manila. This
aims to generate fund for the rehabilitation of the PUP Gynasium.
