technology plays a role in the prevalence of
violence.
This lesson will help students understand the
different types of media that contribute to the
prevalence of violence and what role they can play
in decreasing the number of violence within the
media.
This lesson will also enhance students ability to
work as a team.
Evaluate the impact of media on the prevalence of
violence.

Students will get into groups and use technology to


create a PowerPoint displaying the information
theyve learned about the prevailing violence in the
media using the Internet.
Students will explain the different types of ways the
media and technology contributes to the
prevalence of violence in their PowerPoint.
Each group will identify the different types of
devices that people use to spread violence in their
PowerPoint.
Students will present their PowerPoints to the class.
Each group will explain what they can do to reduce
the amount of violence online.
Students will use the Internet to find pictures and
information on violence in the media to insert in
their PowerPoint.

Instructional Procedures:
1. Start class by discussing the positives and negatives
of media such as television, video games, and the
Internet and the assignment that they will complete.
2. Explain the criteria for the assignment and let the
students know how they will be graded.
3. Have students get into groups of three and have

4. Allow students to use the Internet as well as their
books to find information about things that
contribute to the influx of violence within the media.
5. Have students put into their own words the
information that they find with their books or
Internet.
6. Have students to open up Microsoft PowerPoint on
their computers and have them create a minimum
of six slides showcasing the prevalence of violence
using information and pictures.
7. Have each group come up one at a time to show
and discuss their PowerPoint presentation.
8. Grade students based on the criteria given.

theyve learned and how to apply it to their lives.
