1.Dean, Alexander, and Lawrence Carra. Fundamentals of play directing. Waveland Press, 2009.
2. The purpose of this book is to explain what a director does in the process of a show. 3. The
content of this book includes what the director's function is in a show. It travels into what the five
fundamentals of directing are; which are composition, picturization, movement, rhythm, and
pantomimic dramatization. It explains how to work with the actors through auditions and casting;
also how to help them use expression, body, voicing, and role. Finally explaining how to start out
staging the play, and rehearsing and staging with the actors. 4. The possible audience for this
book is someone that is in the process of directing a play and is looking for information of how
to direct and work with actors in a correct manner. 5. This book is relevant for my senior project
paper because of the fact that my senior project is assistant directing a play and reading a book
like this will give me information I need in order to successfully complete the directing project.
It gives information about how to work with actors and build a good relationship with them, so
therefore that will help my relationships with the actors. 6. One special feature of this book is the
table of contents at the beginning of the book that tells where each new section of the book starts,
being more organized than if it was just thrown on the paper. 7. There is no bias in this as it is
just stating what to do as a director and good techniques to use.
1. Boyatzis, Chris J., and Reenu Varghese. "Children's emotional associations with colors." The
Journal of genetic psychology 155.1 (1994): 77-85.
2. The purpose of this article is to show how children of all different ages feel towards different
colors that exist on the color spectrum. 3. The content of this article includes statistics of how the
different ages and genders feel towards different colors. Mainly showing that darker colors made
kids feel negative emotions but as they got older the emotions were less negative. Brighter colors
always were associated with more positive emotions, no matter what the age brighter colors were
more positive. The statistics that are located in this article will help me more reach the targeted
audience for the play. 4. The possible audience for this article would be someone that is looking
for correct colors to use when working with kids in any way. 5. This article is relevant for my
senior project paper cause I am looking into what colors cause certain emotions to be felt in
children. As the play I am assistant directing is aimed at children it would just be right to have
colors that cause the right emotions that are supposed to be felt in the scenes. 6. There are no
special features in this article. 7. One bias that could be in this article is the statistics that were
being taken about color related feelings being taken from a very narrow group of people.
