that you are working on the assigned work. We have some technology to use make sure
you are on task. If you have any questions during the activity, please raise your hand and
I will come and answer as much as I can. When you hear me clap, that is a signal to be

have 5 minutes at each station, and then we will have a class discussion at the end to
make sure that we have answered all the questions.
Body (23 min.):
Key Questions: Where is Alberta located in relation to other provinces and territories of
Canada? What are some of the climate patterns seen in Alberta? Do you think that the
location of Alberta is a determining factor for climate patterns, why or why not? (L.O.
#1).
Learning Activity #1: World Map and Map of Canada Station
Look at the world map find Canada, find Alberta
Students will discuss the location of Alberta (i.e. it is landlocked; it is in Western

the geographic features that they find (this will be used again in another lesson)

Key Questions: Where is Southern Alberta? What are some important features of
Southern Alberta, specifically in terms of climate patterns? (L.O. #2).

during the activities.
Each question will be asked to the class for students to answer students will not
be individually called on if they do not put their hands up.
Students are encouraged to jot down some of the answers that their classmates
came up with if it is not already on their sheet.
Sponge Activity: If students feel that they have answered the questions for their station
before the 5 minutes is up, they are encouraged to begin filling out the blank map of
Alberta they can draw and colour the different geographical features of Alberta and
write down the approximate location of where important cities are found.
