4 Installation
4.1 Installing the Tracker
The tracker's (MVT600/T1/T333/T622) RS232 port is used to connect to the probe. The device wiring diagram is as follows:

4.2 Installing the Sensor

Operation Procedures

Steps In Detail

1. Preparation

1.

Drawing

Important note: Prior to the installation, fuel the fuel

tank at least half full and park the vehicle on level
ground.

2.

Tools required: 12 V power bank, tape measure,

insulating tape, cloth, tissue (for cleaning up oil), and
anti-rusting paint.

2. Record the fuel level.

1.

Measure and record the maximum height of the fuel

tank.

2.

Check the vehicle's petrol gauge, and record the fuel

level.

3. Select an area for probe

3.

Please make a note of both indications.

1.

The area for installing the probe should be clear from

installation.

the fuel inlet, fuel outlet, fuel return pipe, fuel float,
and baffle. You are advised to install the probe at the
center bottom part of the fuel tank. (The yellow area
shown in the right figure is proper to install the probe.)
2.

If it is a cylindrical tank, choose the area that is closest

to the ground.

4.

installation

2.

Connect display's red wire to probe's V+ (power supply:

display.

936 V DC) and display's black wire to probe's V-.

3.

After power-on, the display will show "8", and then "0".

4.

Set the fuel tank material by pressing the display's black

button. 0 indicates the iron tank; 1 indicates the
aluminium alloy, stainless steel, or plastic tank. After
choosing the material code, press both red and black
buttons at the same time. (See the figure on the right.)
5.

Set the height of the fuel tank by pressing either the

display's black or red button. The height should be 5 cm
higher than the maximum height of the fuel tank. Then
press both red and black buttons at the same time. (See
the figure on the right.)

6.

The display will switch between "000.0" and "0

0". "000.0" indicates the fuel level. In the example
shown in the right figure, "018.9" indicates 18.9 cm. "0"
on the left among "0

0" indicates the number of

signal echoes; "0" on the right indicates the status code.

In example shown in the right figure, the number of
signal echoes is 3 and the status code is 2. The fuel
level, number of signal echoes, and status code
determine whether the probe is installed properly.
Fuel level: Check whether the fuel level on the display is
the same as the actual fuel level.
Number of signal echoes: The value ranges from 1 to 5.
It is better when the number is 2 or 3.
Status code: The value is 0, 1, or 2. 2: It is proper to
install; 1: It is not proper to install; 0: The probe cannot
be installed in this area.
5. Choose a right position

1.

to install the probe.

Clean up the dirt and oil stain at the bottom of the fuel
tank, and keep the bottom dry.

2.

Apply the couplant to the probe surface and stick the

probe on the bottom of the fuel tank.
Move the probe back and forth to find the position
where the status code on the display is 2. Then check
whether the fuel level on the display is the same as the
actual fuel level. In addition, if the number of echoes is
appropriate, the probe will be installed properly. If you
fail to find the position where the status code on the
display is 2, you are advised not to install it on the fuel
tank. Please contact our after-sales personnel for
handling.

3.

After confirming the right position, mark it, take off the
probe, and keep the probe and fuel tank dry and clean.

6. Install the probe.

1.

Important note: During the installation, ensure that the

status code, fuel level, and the number of signal echoes
are correct.

2.

Stick the probe: Evenly apply proper amount of AB glue

to the probe surface, and stick the probe on the marked
position. Press the probe for 610 minutes.
Stick the protective shell: Evenly apply proper amount
of AB glue to the protective shell, and cover the probe
with the protective shell.

7. Wiring

3.

Tie the probe and protective shell properly by cable tie.

1.

Power off the display and take off it. Cover the probe
cable with the heat shrink tubing, and then connect the
probe to the extension cable.

2.

Arrange the extension cable in the cab. The wiring

should follow the frame of the vehicle, and make sure
normal operations for the vehicle are not affected.

3.

The extension cable should be far away from the

vehicle

motor,

avoiding

the

electromagnetic

interference.
4.

Tie the probe cable and extension cable properly by

insulating tape.

5.

The extension cable should keep 20 cm distance away

from the high temperature part of the vehicle and
should be tied by cable tie every 50 cm.

8. Connect the vehicle.

1.

Connect the sensor's power cable to the positive

electrode of vehicle's power supply.

2.

Power on the sensor and check whether any fuel

consumption data is generated on the platform.

5 Configuring the Sensor

5.1 Configuring the Sensor by Meitrack Manager or MS03
1.

Connect the tracker (MVT600/T1/T333/T622) to a computer and run Meitrack Manager. On the Device tab page, select
C/R/V and Ultrasonic, set Use model to 5-Ultrasonic, and set other parameters about the sensor as required, as shown in
the following figure. Click Write to save the configuration.
