Liberty in North Korea Club Constitution and Bylaws

ARTICLE 1: NAME & PURPOSE


Section A: Name - The name of this club will be Liberty in North Korea Club
Section B: Purpose - The purpose of this club shall be:
1.) To help raise awareness of North Korean defectors
2.) To raise money to donate to Liberty in North Korea, a non-profit organization that
helps North Korean defectors escape their country.
3.) To promote helping others in need.
ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP & DUES
Section A: Eligibility - Membership will be open to anyone within the Stevenson community.
Section B: Active Membership - Active membership will be confirmed at meetings, which will
be held at least twice a month (every other week).
ARTICLE III: OFFICERS
Section A: Officers - The officers will be two Leaders and two Co-Leaders. These Co-Leaders
will be divided into Secretary and Treasurer For the first year, the Leaders will be Alyssa Stegall
Ji Woo Park. The rest of the positions will be elected at either the first or the second meeting.
Officer positions may be added in the school year if need be.
Section B: Eligibility - The officers must be active student members of the club.
Section C: Election - The officers will be elected by ballot at the end of the spring trimester
before finals week.
Section D: Term - Officers will serve for one year, unless elected as officer again. Their term
will begin at the beginning of each new school year.
ARTICLE IV: DUTIES OF OFFICERS
Section A: Leaders - The Leaders of the club will be responsible for:
Presiding at club meetings
Scheduling club meetings on a regular basis
Welcoming new members into the club and explaining the purpose and operation
of the club
Documenting progress by writing minutes and submitting it to

the Director of Activities


Being aware of what is going on with the club at all times
*Spread the word about the club and get people interested

Section B: Co-Leaders- The Co-Leaders of the club will be responsible for:


Presiding at club meetings in the absence of the President

Welcome new members into the club


Being aware of what is going on with the club at all times and assist the
President
Receiving all funds and safely donating them to the Liberty in North Korea
organization
*Spread the word about the club and get people interested
* Note: this is not only for the officers. It should also be encouraged among members.
ARTICLE V: MEETINGS
Section A: Meetings
- Regular meetings will be held during activities period every first and third Tuesday of the
month when there are no other required meetings to attend unless otherwise notified.
- A notification of the meeting time and place will be announced at least three school days in
advance so that members may plan accordingly to be at the meeting.
ARTICLE VI: EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Section A: Responsibility - The executive committee is responsible for the

management and future planning of this club.


Section B: Membership - The Executive Committee will consist of the
officers listed in Article III and the faculty advisor.
Section C: Meetings - The committee will meet once a month to organize
and plan activities for the club.
ARTICLE VII: ADVISOR
Section A: Duties - The faculty advisor will be held accountable for:
Assist the members of the club to help reach the objectives and
goals of the club
Make sure that the activities planned by the club follow
Stevensons rules and policies
Approve/deny all club functions
ARTICLE VIII: AMENDMENTS
Section A: Selection - these bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3)
majority vote of the active members
Section B: Notice - All members will receive a notice of the proposed
amendment at least five (5) days in advance prior to the meeting.
