1.0 Introduction
The Mocambo Mine is 35 km South of So Felix do Xingu City, Par State, Northern Brazil.
In terms of regional geology the Mocambo Granite is placed on the Velho Guilherme Intrusive
Suite, that comprehends a series of granite bodies with cassiterite mineralization such as Velho Guilherme, So Pedro, Bom Jardim, Benedita, and others.
The Mocambo Mine history is represented by alluvial production of tin and the production of
wolframite from vein systems hosted in the mocambo granite. The mining operation suffered consecutive stops due to the oscillation market prices of the products. Now the Minerao So Francisco de
Assis Ltd starts the alluvial production of tin from reminiscent deposits in Chaves Creek.
Reminiscent reserves of alluvial deposits are measured in 3,320 metric tons of tin in
10,000,000 cubic meters of ore. There are no register of research on the primary Wolframite.
This report analysis new discoveries possibilities of primary deposits of Wolframite and Cassiterite.
For alluvial possibilities it is necessary to verify the lower terrains in the margins of the Xingu
River, between the Chad (Reinaldo) and Mocambo Creeks with a drilling method that can reach 20 m
deep.
The main parameters used to generate the targets for the search of primary deposits are:

Field data (presented by the current geological map)

Petrographic description from academic research
Petrographic description of CPRM (Brazilian Geological Survey)
Geochemical data of rock samples

The sum of all this information shows that the Mocambo Granite has good chances of hosting
a primary mineralization of Wolframite in veins and Cassiterite in greisen. This greisen probably are in
the contact of Mocambo Granite and its metassedimentary hosts, or as mineralized domes.

2.0 Regional Geology

In accordance with Teixeira et all, 2005, the Mocambo Granite is part of the Velho Guilherme
Intrusive Suite which is part of the Southern Par Tin Province. Hosted in Amazonian Central Province
of the Amazonian Craton.
The Velho Guilherme area passed through several thermal-tectonic from Archean and Proterozoic, shown by mineralogical and structural transformations printed in the archean litho-stratigraphic
units of the South Par Granite-Greenstone and the Itacaiunas shear belt. In this area occurs the
Parauari Granite and Paleoproterozoic intermediary (Sobreiro Formation) and felsic (Formao Irir)
volcanic rocks (Figure 2.a).
The granitic bodies are hosted by meta-volcanossedimentary of the Tucum Group, by the Rio
Maria Granodiorite, both of the South Par Granite-Greenstone, and by the Itacaiunas shear belt.

3.0 Local Geology

Four main units form the set of rocks at the study area and are described hereafter.

3.1 Granites
The granitic body named Mocambo has minor dimensions compared with other granites in the
region (6,000 x 2,500 m), its major petrological and petrochemical characteristics are similar to the
Velho Guilherme Intrusive Suite.
The granitic bodies of the Velho Guilherme Intrusive Suite were mined in the past and are currently in production, the Garimpeiros own all but the Mocambo Body.
Although the granites bodies of this Suite has shown medium to minor deposits none has originated a world class tin deposit like Pitinga in the Mapuera Suite and Bom Futuro in Rondonia Province.
The academic research cite three types of granite in the Mocambo Bodie: Porfiritic Sieno- to
Monzogranites; Sienogranites with muscovite; and Alkali-Feldspar Aplite Granites.
The petrography of the CPRM (Figure 3.1.a), by solicitation of the So Francisco de Assis
Mining, describes only variations between Sieno- to Monzogranites.

Figure 3.1.a Typical sample of the Mocambo Granite.

The academic authors consider the Mocambo Granite a dome strongly affected by post magmatic alterations.
In function of the available data the evidences of primary deposits in this granite suggests
greisen filiation. There are no data suggesting albitization (Similar to Pitinga), nor the strong presence
of pegmatites (Similar to Bom Futuro).

Minerao So Francisco de Assis Ltda.

Its advisable to point the wolframite mineralization in conjunction with cassiterite in the same
body.

3.2 Vulcanic Rocks

This type of rock are linked to Sobreiro Formation of the Uatum Group. Described as intermediary effusive rocks that occur as volcanic beds and subaerial tuffs. Both occurs in plains as in
small hills. Contours the granite body in 75% of its contact. Generaly compact afanitic rocks with vesicle and flux textures. Acid beds linked to Irir Formation, also in the Uatum Group, occurs in minor
proportion. Weathered originates an argillaceous red soil.

3.3 Metassedimentary Rocks

The east part of the area and a small part of the Mocambo Granite is mapped as metassedimentary rocks linked to So Felix Formation. The Breccia that occur in the high Traco Creek are the
basal part of this formation, although we consider this rocks as part of a mineralizing event in the contact of three different rocks: Granites; Vulcanics; and Metassedimentaries. In this place there are still a
discordance between the low angle dip to West of the volcanic rocks with the middle angle dip to East
of the Metassedimentary Rocks.
This Breccia has a Quartz-Sericitic matrix, as a greisen, with angular fragments of crystalline
and milky quartz, wich gives a different aspect to this rocks. This contact greisen (Breccia) were considered as hornfels in old descriptions of CPRM.
The main facies are gray to reddish laminated metassiltite with fine grained micas, quartzites
as well as itabirite lens. This itabirites have alternated bands of quartz and hematite.

3.4 Alluvial Deposits

These deposits correspond to the filling of the main drainages of the area with weathered material carried from the granite body. The West Part of the mineral rights, is composed of alluvial deposits formed by the Xingu River and the minor drainages near the granite body.
Generally the sedimentary column is composed of coarse sand with gravels in the base, followed by argillaceous sand beds with clay beds in the top. The main target in this package for Cassiterite is the coarse lower part.

3.5 Petrography
The Mocambo Granite has a simple mineralogical composition, between syenogranite and
monzogranite, with quartz as a non-dominant member.
The petrographic data are from Research Final Reports (Official Report to DNPM) and all
have been described by CPRM.
Recently five samples from Traco and Cotia Creeks have been described, two of them has
been classified as a product of hydrothermal action over the granite, which could be considered as
greisen. Prior to this classification this type of rock was described as hornfels and has the following
composition (Table 3.5.a and Figures 3.5.a and 3.5.b):

The typical composition of the granites is shown in Table 3.5.b.
Fluorite is colorless, rarely purple; amphiboles are described as arfvedsonite; topaz is fine
grained and occurs with the fluorite; chlorite is poorly mentioned but occurs substituting the biotite and
amphibole cristals.
The white mica denomination encloses sericite as well as colorless Muscovite and lithium rich
Muscovites.

4.0 Geochemistry
The comparison of the geochemical analysis results of major oxides and trace elements
shows an important indication of primary mineralization of Sn on this granitic body.
The Velho Guilherme Suite granite bodies have shown good indications based on the concentration of Sn, F, Rb and SiO2, the last one is favorable because is in the range of other mineralized
bodies of this Suite.
The result of 23 analyses, at the ACME Laboratory, in rock samples shows the elevated concentrations of the principal elements (Table 4.a).

The average values of Rb and Sn are higher them the other granitic bodies of the region. Besides, the results of tin concentration are excellent information for definition of primary deposits (Table
4.b).

The MOC-10 Sample (Table 3.b) is a secure information of mineralization, because this a
sample constituted of a vein of quartz and the host granite. The other results are strong indications of
mineralization.
On this account the available geochemical data shows good chances of Tin mineralization definition with the systematic sampling and analysis proposed as follows.
Geochemical indications are much more difficult to apply for Tungsten, for which is suggested
field observations as main guide.

5.0 Primary Targets

There are a series of isolated information, such as: disseminated cassiterite or wolframite;
rock geochemistry with elevated grade of Sn (e.g.: samples collected at Chaves Creek headspring;
the BOT-10 sample with 5800ppm wich is part of a small vein); other small veins form a positive information set.
The implantation of a wide soil and/or rock sampling grid further the geological mapping of the
same will collaborate to integrate the sparse and the specific targets data in a whole area model. The
research in each target will obey the whole area grid with the necessary detail.
Radiometric and magnetometric ground works must be executed obeying this grid.

5.1 Amelinha Hills

The granite present in this target is commonly greisened though not totally, preserving the
original structures of the rock.
Metalmig extracted Wolframite in a technically poor way. This Wolframite is disseminated in
the greisened granite. There have been observed boulders of veins in the north part of the target, but
the in-situ correspondents were not found yet.
This target lies between the Caetitu e Traco Creeks in the range of 300 and 460 m of high.

5.2 Wolframite Vein

Occurs in a low topographic level near the current pit, south of the Chaves Creek. Represented by a 3 m wide quartz vein with coarse wolframite crystals.
The proposed research works were meant to define the length of the mineralization.
This vein is near the contact of the granitic body with volcanic host rocks.

5.3 East Border

This target is in the contact zone between the mocambo granite and the metassedimentary
rocks, beyond the contact of this with the volcanic rocks forms a special target for tin, marked with the
presence of greisen (hidrothermalites), near the Cotia Creek and Brecciated greisen near the Isauro
Creek.
The petrographical analysis describes the quartz and white micas as responsible for 80% of
this samples, the other 20% consists of fluorite, opaque minerals and topaz.

5.4 Grota Rica Grota Rasa

The granite, sedimentary and volcanic rocks set defines a area in the northwest of the granite
body, east of the industrial village, similar to the East Border target, but with minor quantities of greisend boulders.

5.5 Metassedimentary Rocks

The east and northeast parts of the mineral rights are of metassedimentary rocks, that in other
regions of the Carajs Province and South of Par State, have shown as important mineralization
such as Manganese (Azul) and Gold (Serra Pelada and Bahia). Some gold indications have been
reported in the Tracu Creek.

5.6 Alluvial Deposits

Confirm deep alluvial deposit possibilities (paleochannel) corresponding to the east margins of
the Xingu River, a continuation of the known cassiterite deposits, with a grid of alluvial drilling in an
area of 4000 meters long and 1000 meters wide.

6.0 Conclusions
The Mocambo Mine has three opportunities of economic mineral deposit of Sn and W, one of
them is been restarted. These are as following:

Tin Alluvial Deposits Current implantation of two plants, whit expectation of growing the
deposits with the study of:
o Underlays of fake bedrock, over which the current mining operation is limited. This
fake bedrock consists of a level of volcanic rock blocks of 0,5 meters wide. Some excavations beneath this bedrock shows concentrations that reach 1000g per cubic meter of Sn.
o Deep alluvial deposits (paleoplacers) of the Xingu River margin, visible in satellite imagery, possibly with a lengthy of 4000 meters, 1000 meters wide and 10 meters deep,
which results in 40.000.000 cubic meters of potential alluvial ore.
Tin Primary Deposits The Mocambo Granite is the best target in all the granite bodies in
the region for primary Sn deposit, among all the Velho Guilherme Intrusive Suite, in other
words, among all the Southern Par State granites. The geochemical data are promising and
the field data are suggestive.
Tungsten Primary Deposits In the past two targets were explored for W, the Chaves Creek
Veins and the Amelinha Hill, both are important for immediately research once the startup
conditions are favorable by the geographic position and association with cassiterite occurrence.

It is highly recommended the implantation of an integrated research program, to define the

reminiscent alluvial deposits with the chance of expand the ore reserves; to define the Wolframite from
Chaves Creek veins and Amelinha Hill; and the dimensions and concentration of tin in the greinsens.
