BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST

Reporting to the Supervisor, Management Reporting, the Business Intelligence Analyst is a
critical role that supports various business intelligence solutions provided to administrative
departments across the Firm (Finance, IT, Marketing/Business Development, Records
Management).
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide administrative and on-going support for the Firms management reporting system
(SAP BusinessObjects) by actively participating in the scoping, development, testing,
implementation, and maintenance of BI and Dashboard solutions.

Preparation of end-user documentation and creation of inventory for current and new BI
reports.

Assist with the preparation and support of monthly, quarterly and annual management
reporting deliverables including reconciliation of reports against the Firms Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) System (Elite Enterprise).

Analyze financial and statistical data extraction models to ensure data integrity.

Data mining into the Firms ERP System database to provide enhanced client and
statistical information (i.e. matter practice group assignment, clients industry, legal
service provided, cross-selling matrixes, referrals).

Training Firm-wide Finance, Marketing, IT and Records Management staff in the Firms
management reporting system and other business intelligence solutions such as the
Attorney Dashboard.

Work with department leaders to scope and streamline reporting processes through
automation.

Support & maintenance of policing systems to ensure ongoing integrity and completeness
of BI solutions and Dashboards.

CORE COMPETENCIES:
Education and Experience:
University degree with a focus in business, finance or accounting discipline, coupled with at least
three years related experience working within a professional services environment. Enrolled in a
professional accounting designation program (CPA or equivalent).

-2Specific Requirements:

Proficient SQL report writing skills

Working knowledge of BI tools (SAP BusinessObjects, SQL Server Reporting Services,

Cognos) and database management systems (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2)

Comprehensive knowledge of data mining concepts

Strong technical skills with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word,
PowerPoint, MS Project) with advanced knowledge of Excel (experience with VBA
would be an asset)

Strong analytical, technical and problem solving skills

Ability to quickly analyze data patterns

Ability to maintain confidentiality of strategic information

Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to effectively
communicate to a non-technical audience

Fluency in French would be advantageous

Superior customer service skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex reporting
solutions

Willingness to work collaboratively as a member of a team with a positive, can-do

attitude and good humour and be able to build harmonious working relationships with
clients and co-workers, and to demonstrate the ability to share knowledge with others

Detail oriented, proactive, self-directed and able to manage multiple projects under tight
deadlines

Ability and willingness to work overtime as necessary.
