EMERGENCY MEASURES
Shelter-In-Place Procedures: A short-term solution to
a short-term problem. May be used in the event of a
hazardous materials incident, chemical spill or terrorist
action.
Lockdown and Modified Lockdown: Local law enforcement
agencies may alert schools to potential risks requiring the
school to implement this precautionary safety protocol.
May be used for an intruder, or dangerous activity
occurring outside the school building. Modified lockdown
takes similar precautions but allows more movement
within the building. To ensure safety, no one may enter or
leave the building. Students will not be released to their
parents during a lockdown.
Evacuation: Students and staff are removed from school
when conditions outside are safer than inside. May be
used for fire or unsafe building conditions.
Reverse Evacuation: Students and staff are moved quickly
Pandemic Flu: Part of preparedness is maintaining overallgood health and using basic prevention measures such as
covering your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze
and washing your hands often. In the event of a pandemic flu
event the District will comply with instructions issued by the
East Baton Rouge Parish Office of Public Health Department.
Relocation Centers
Busses will transport students to their designated Secondary Site. This site may be another school or may be
