Good Morning, dear teachers and fellows. Thank you for joining us at our today`s debate session. My
name is ________________, I am A1 and my colleagues are _______________________________.
Our today`s topic is: Security cameras are an invasion of privacy.
The key words are: Security, Cameras, Invasion, Privacy
The Cambridge dictionary gives us the following definitions:
Security- protection of a person, building, organization, or country against threats such as crime or
attacks.
Cameras- a device for taking photographs or making videos.
Invasion - an action or process that affects someone's life in an unpleasant and unwanted way.
Privacy- someone's right to keep their personal matters and relationships secret.
We agree with the topic and our arguments are the following:
1. Security cameras cause irritation and discomfort since we know that
somebody is watching us. As a result, cameras disturb private life
and it is impossible to concentrate on a specific work fully, because
we know that someone is looking at us.
2. Security cameras are useless. To support my argument, I want to say that security
cameras do not prevent crime and is just a waste of money. We pay a lot of money for
these devices, and as a result they just stay in a corner without using them.
3. People shouldn't be filmed on camera without being asked before hand. It isn't fair that
there are cameras on you in nearly every store. Sometimes they are used in dressing
rooms and bathrooms. So, people would feel uncomfortable.
To conclude, I want to say that we strongly believe that Security cameras an invasion of
privacy; they disturb our private life. If you really don't like your privacy ,its your problem; but
we want to be free and live a happy live without being supervised.

Our team doesn`t agree with the topic and with the arguments that the opponent group has presented.
Before we come to our arguments, I would like to contradict the arguments of the opponent group.

Our arguments are:
1. Security cameras aren`t an invasion of privacy because they are placed for the security for each
individual. To support my argument, I want to say that they help to prevent a bad situation.
When someone sees a security camera, he understands that he is supervised.
2. They help us to catch a lot of important events. If something happens, a camera can help to
solve the situation every aspects in mall, in ATM, administrative places, the area which is more
vulnerable, traffics etc. It gathers vital information.
3. Cameras plays a vital role in crime investigations like robbery and kidnapping cases , because
it equals more security. Criminals are less likely to break into cars or steal from a store where
they perceive the threat of getting caught is higher.
To conclude, I want to say that we are sure that Security cameras aren`t an invasion of privacy. They
help us to solve difficult situations and feel safe in every situation.

Our arguments are:
1. Security cameras aren`t an invasion of privacy because they are placed for the security for each
individual. Security cameras deters crime from happening. When a vandal sees a camera watching
him, he would most likely wont vandalize. Or when someone wants to steal a car or rob a house, he
will probably think twice before doing so when he sees the surveillance installed.
2. They help us to catch a lot of important events. When a couple was brutally attacked in the heart
of Center City Philadelphia last month, police used a 21st-century tool to catch the alleged
attackers.Investigators released video surveillance of a group of young adults leaving a nearby
restaurant just moments before the violent attack. After the video went viral using social media,
police received crucial information that allowed them to identify the three suspects and make
the arrests.
3. Cameras plays a vital role in crime investigations like robbery and kidnapping cases. Technology
certainly played a crucial role in the hunt for the two Boston Marathon bombers. But the best piece
of evidence may have come from a Lord and Taylor department store security camera, which
provided video of one of the suspects dropping his backpack at the spot of the bombing; the fact is
that surveillance cameras helped the FBI solve this complicated crime and allowed the city of
Boston to live in peace.
To conclude, there is a real benefit from using security cameras; we live in a modernized world,
so we must succeed to all of this and use different tools that will make our life easier.

To conclude, I want to say that you didn`t convince us, your arguments didn`t show us that
mobile phones in public places should really be banned. Sometimes you were not convinced
at the cross- questioning . You answers were not sure and you contradicted
yourselves. So, Security cameras do not invade privacy. They are used for so many purposes,
for example, protection of anybody and everybody. To sum it all up, security cameras do not
invade privacy in any way, shape, or form.
