Originally developed to estimate the end bearing capacity of
piles.

Cb=1

qc: is a measure of the end bearing capacity and the sleeve


resistance.

Sleeve resistance:
If the cone sleeve resistance is not measured, an
estimate can be made:

qcs: is the cone resistance after adjustments for pore water


pressure measured at the cone shoulder.

Cs : is a coefficient that depends on soil type

2-Load Capacity of drilled shafts


N.B:
The load capacities of drilled shafts are calculated similarly
to driven piles except that the empirical
adhesion, friction, and end bearing factors are different.

diameter 1 m is installed in a soil
profile, as shown in the Figure.
