This Assignment has an individual and team component, as follows:
1-Individual Assignment
Acceleration of the technology driven business cycle has caused new
attention to be focused on trends when thinking about entrepreneurial
concepts. Historically, personal curiosity/interests, and the personal choice of
the entrepreneur have been driving factors in defining entrepreneurial
ventures. However, as the business environment has become digitized and
communication has become a market-place dialogue (rather than one-way
communication), information about trends is a new indicator/factor in both
the choice and potential success of entrepreneurial ventures. After all, how
does an entrepreneur choose between competing ideas/interests? Trend
analysis is one factor to consider in the decision making process.
While you are examining the trends literature you should be thinking about
your Investor Offering (team assignment), also due on October 20th and how
to justify your choice of concepts beyond your personal feelings and
impressions with the trends data/information. You should also consider how
to inform your team Business Model Canvas with the trends
information/data. This should also inform your essay (future assignment) on
the Tech Start-up that youve decided to follow.
Your assignment is to examine the following Trends data resources and to
do the following:
1- Identify those that you find most useful and why.
2- Explain how this information will inform the choices in your Business Model
Canvas.
You are to accomplish this in a 300-500 word essay and post it to the Private
Blog section of the Bb site. This is an individual assignment, and should
be posted to the Private Journal tab of the Bb site. The resources to be
examined are the following:
1- The E-commerce Times: http://www.ecommercetimes.com
2- Log onto the CUNY Portal, click on Gartner, IT Research and take a close look
at the Hype Cycle
3- Take a look at the following sites: www.trendhunter.com and
www.tableau.com also take a look at the related YouTube site,
www.youtube.com/trendhunter
4- Also, please examine http://trendspottr.com/welcome.php

Suggest a source/article/blog/website, etc. that you find

valuable relating to this subject (yes, this requires some
researchhappy hunting)!

2-Team Assignment
Each Team is to complete the Investor Offering and have
ONE team member post it to the Private Journal Tab of the Bb
site for my feedback by Thursday October 20th. Please follow
the detailed directions in the course outline to complete this
assignment.
Each team should be prepared to pitch their investor offering
in a 3-minute presentation on Tuesday, October 25th.
Consider this a presentation to potential
stakeholders/investors. The team presenter should not be the
person who pitched in class on October 18th.
