Programme Structure:
1. Degree with Thesis (By Research)

Graduate programmes under this structure are


for both Masters and Doctoral level programme
emphasize mostly on research as the major
requirement for attaining the degrees. While there is
no specific number of credits required for graduation,
students are required to enroll some courses to
strengthen their knowledge base. They are also
required to participate in academic discussions and
seminar presentations. At the end of the programme,
they are required to submit a thesis to the Thesis
Examination Committee as a significant contribution
the knowledge mastered in the chosen field.

2. Degree without Thesis (By Coursework)

Graduate programmes under coursework structure


is only offered once a year which is on first semester
of every session. Students who enroll in this structure
are required to fulfill thirty six (36) to fourty eight (48)
credits comprising coursework and dissertation.
Students are expected to submit a dissertation
(equivalent to 46 credits). In some programmes,
a comprehensive examination is required. The
minimum requirement is 36 credits. This structure is
only offered at the Masters level.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 2
Degree with Thesis (By Research)
1. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)
i. Masters degree from UMT or any other higher
institution recognized by the Senate; or
ii. Any other qualification equivalent to a Masters
degree and possesses evidence of adequate
research or work experience recognized by the
Senate; or
iii. Outstanding Master student from UMT who has
been approved for conversion; or
iv. First Class bachelors degree or equivalent from
UMT or any higher institution recognized by the
Senate.

2. Masters of Science (M.Sc)


i. Bachelors degree in related field with a minimum
CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent from UMT or any other
higher institution recognized by the Senate; or
ii. Bachelors degree in related field with a CGPA
below 2.75 or equivalent qualification and
possesses evidence of relevant and adequate
research or work experience recognized by the
Senate; or
iii. Any other academic qualification in related field
and possesses evidence of adequate research or
work experience recognized by the Senate.

3 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

sciences and management or;
ii. Any other qualifications equivalent to the related

2. Masters of Management (Integrated Coastal Zone


Management)

Admission Requirement
i. Bachelors degree in related field with CGPA 2.75
and above or/and;
ii. Individual who has at least three (3) years working
experience in aquaculture industry.

Costs of Living
The cost of living depends very much of the needs of the
life style of the individual student. Students should have
adequate funds to cover living expenses, clothing, books,
trailling and others. Estimated costs of living is about
RM1,000.00 - RM1,200.00 (USD270.00 -USD320.00) per
month including meals and accomodation.

Accomodation
Private housing is available for rent with reasonable
rates in nearby areas (less than 10km radius) such as
Gong Badak, Mengabang Telipot, Kubang Badak, Wakaf
Tembesu, Wakaf Tengah and Tok Jembal.

Application Procedure
A complete application should consist of:
A complete, signed application form;
Certified copy of Identification Card / International
Passport;
Certified copy of degree certificate;
Certified copy of transcript;
A report of project proposal (for Research
structure only);
Report of an academic referee (must be sealed);
Documentary evidence of the applicants ability
to cover all related expenses during programme
period such as bank guarantee or sponsorship
letter for an amount of MYR30,000 (Master) or
MYR48,000 (PhD) - international applicant only;
Non-refundable application fee of RM25 (local
application) or USD25 (international application)
which should be in a bank draft/ postal order/
money order form, payable to BENDAHARI
UNIVERSITI MALAYSIA TERENGGANU;
Evidence of English proficiency (if any);
Other relevant documents (if any);
