ECCO on a standard calibration sleeve

Measurement principle for wall thickness

The sensor emits an ultrasonic pulse
This pulse passes through the coupling medium and, then, strikes the

pipe wall.

Measurement principle for wall thickness

One part of the pulse is reflected by the surface
The other one enters the material, passes through it and is reflected

by the back wall of the sample

Measurement principle for wall thickness

The entrance and the back wall echoes are received one after the

other
The time difference is multiplied by sonic velocity so that this way a

wall thickness is calculated

Calibration and evaluation of the ultrasonic signal

The necessary calibration of the ultrasonic

measurement is effected by:

Simple manual calibration

(correction factor)

mm

kg/h

Ecco - manual wall thickness calibration

1.Make a mark on the pipe

MK / SC

to find the position again.

2.When the mark moves

through the measuring
system you have to freeze

the actual wall thickness

The pipe is divided into 8 segments.

The manual calibration calculates a correction factor of the ultrasonic

speed for each segment.
