Message from the Childrens Ministry Coordinator

RUTH NAMUYIGA
I thank God for the childrens
teachers and all the people who serve
wholeheartedly under this ministry.
Your dedication amazes me! When
we have children around, I marvel at
how each one of you has been gifted,
differently.

I also thank God for the parents who

are committed, very deliberate,
always come with their children, and
always ask questions about the
ministry.
I thank those parents who have chosen to come and help with the children.
I thank God for the church leadership for being supportive, and I know if we
remain a team, we will reach our goal.

Prevailing ministry challenges and how you can help

We have a lot of children and not enough teachers to cover every child. We
need more adults to come and help in the different classes or when we have an
activity because one teacher in a class cannot do everything. The ideal is for
every teacher to have two adult helpers (depending on the age group) which is
not happening at the moment.
I pray for a more committed team of teachers because, though, I have a big
number of teachers on my list, sometimes I find I have just a few who are
committed. The level of commitment is growing but it is not yet where we
want it to be.

We also need to see more parents involved in the ministry. Currently, only a
handful are involved. Parents do not have to teach classes, but we would love
to feel their presence and support so that it does not feel like they have
brought their children to another day care centre so they can get a break. Even
if a parent just came and asked about what we teach their children, that would
show they are part of the ministry. Parents should come and ask questions for
example about what we teach their children otherwise it feels like the parents
and the children are in two different worlds.

One thing that has stood out for sure is that we have seen childrens numbers
increase, we have seen more children coming to bible study and I have seen a
number of childrens lives changed through programs like the CLC, the
Compassion International project, but most notable CLC because we have some
of those children coming to Sunday school. I am left speechless when those
