It is with great sadness that we inform the readers of the sad demise of Dr. Farhat Mahmood on
Sunday night in Melbourne. His family members may burry him in Perth (preferably in Guildford
where his partner (Talat) is already resting). Dr Farhat Mahmood was known to lot of people
especially the early settlers of Perth. He used to live in Kinross (next to Joondalup). As soon as we
receive the update, a n email will be sent to you all.
Similarly the community received the sad news of the untimely death of
Shahzeb in Sydney on 12th October. Namaz e Janaza of the young 21
year old Pakistani student Syed Shahzeb Ali will be held today at Zuhur
at Imam Ali ibne Talib mosque in Lakemba, Sydney. He will then start
his final journey to Pakistan on 19th October where he will be laid to
rest.
This incident is again a reminder to stay safe on roads.
On Friday, there is a Mehfil-e -Naat organised by the Pakistan Association of Western Australia at
Jim Satchel Community Centre in Morley.
The credit for the cover photograph goes to Tusif Ahmed who is renowned for his paper cutting
art and has several exhibitions in Australia and overseas.

HER EXCELLENCY VISITED PERTH


Last week, Her Excellency spent two busy days in Perth attending a roundtable discussion,
public meeting and then a breakfast meeting with research students at the University of
Western Australia. Mr. Farooq Khan the Hon. Consul General accompanied her.

FAREWELL TO OUR DEFENCE ADVISOR BRIG. ASGHAR


Our Defence advisor is about to leave for Pakistan following completion of his term. He has
been a great supporter of initiatives undertaken by Pakistani community beside his own
regular commitments. PIA is extremely grateful for his support towards our participation
into ANZAC DAY/ YOUME SHUHADA as well as to facilitate our support towards the medical
equipment in Baluchistan.
Last Wednesday we organised a farewell dinner for the Brigadier. On behalf of the Pakistani
community we once again thank him for his valuable contribution and wish him all the best.

CONGRATULATIONS:
Cricket Australia has appointed, Pakistan-born cricket player Munawar Hassan recently
moved to Canberra from Sydney as an ambassador for Cricket Australia community,
Munawar said he feels fortunate for achieving this amazing milestone. Australia has been
known for its multiculturalism. Cricket Australia's purpose is for cricket to unite and inspire
the nation.
Munawar is living in Australia for last 17 years where he played cricket for Canterbury and
Western Cricket Suburbs Association, he also represented Sydney Thunder Nation cup for
Pakistan in NSW, along with that he served as a manager of different club teams. He
has also organised a Tape Ball Cricket Cup on 3 Oct 2016 in Sydney.
Feeling rejoice over his appointment , Munawar said that he feels honoured to achieve this
remarkable milestone , he is thankful to Cricket Australia, Sydney Thunder, Cricket NSW,
and his friends and family members, who supported him throughout his struggle. He will
work for the development of cricket in future and his role is to promote Cricket as a sport
for all in Australian community.
7th TAPE BALL CRICKET CUP IN SYDNEY
Pakistan won the tournament held in Sydney. Pakistan United won the toss and elected to
field. Spartan Silver Smash Scored 83 for 6 Wickets in 8 Overs and Pakistan United chased it
in 4.2 overs for the loss of 1 wicket only. Mr Raza performed all round performance in Final
by taking 2 wickets and scoring 47 Runs to get Man of the Match award of Finals.
