Animal rights

Animal rights is the ideology which views humans and animals as essentially equal. They
advocate that animals should have legal entitlement to rights such as the right not to be harmed
and exploited for human use. Supporters of Animal rights are not interested in making animals
and humans equal. They work for the basic rights of all animals to live their lives free from
abuse and pain or premature death caused by people.
Peoples opinions regarding animals and their rights are different. According to some people
animals have no rights, they think that humans must employ animals to satisfy their needs for
food, clothing, research, simply that animals exist to ensure human survival. To other people,
animals arent creatures that can be used or owned by people, they are beings who also have
feelings and they shouldnt be exposed to needless suffering or pain. I think that it is a mans
duty to use his knowledge for the welfare of animals.. Most states today make at least some
abuses of animals a felony.
Laws such as the federal Animal Welfare Act (1966), regulate what humans may do to animals in
agriculture, biomedical research, entertainment, and other areas (the only U.S. federal law that
covers animals in research).
Examples of law: (1.In 1980 PETA-People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals was created so
people could speak out against cruelty to animals; 2.In 1992, Switzerland amended its
constitution to recognize animals as beings and not things;3.In 2005, the Austrian
parliament banned experiments on apes, unless they are performed in the interests of the
individual ape.; 4. In 2009 and so on-several countries outlawed the use of some or all animals
in circuses Bolivia, Scandinavia, the Middle East, and Singapore.
The Five Freedoms were developed in response to a 1965 UK Government report on livestock
husbandry, and were formalized in about 1979. The five freedoms: (1.Freedom from hunger or
thirst ; 2.Freedom from discomfort; 3.Freedom from pain, injury or disease ; 4. Freedom to
express (most) normal behaviour ;5. Freedom from fear and distress)
Animal welfare is the well-being of animals. It is different from the animal rights philosophy, it
advocates the responsible use of animals to satisfy certain human needs. It means ensuring that
all animals used by humans have their basic needs and that they experience no unnecessary
suffering. Serbia has one the best Animal Welfare legislation of the World. Unfortunately, these
laws are not enforced at all, which result in practice in a lot of animal suffering. People even
don't know how and to whom to report cases of animal cruelty. The provision: " The animals
have a right to live in accordance with his own kind and the law " was included in Constitution
of the Republic of Serbia in 2012.
