I am requesting funding in the FY09 Energy and Water Appropriations bill, Department of Energy,
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Account, for the Initiative for Energy Technologies Research
and Education at New Mexico State University. The entity to receive funding for is New Mexico State
University P.O Box 30001, Las Cruces, New Mexico, 88003. It is my understanding that the funding
would be used focus on Advanced Technologies in Renewable Energy, Distributed Generation and
Micro-grids, and Education and Workforce Development. I certify that this project does not have a direct
and foreseeable effect on the pecuniary interests of me or my spouse.
Consistent with the Republican Leadership's policy on earmarks, I hereby certify that to the best of
my knowledge this request (I) is not directed to an entity or program that will be named after a sitting

I am requesting funding for the San Francisco Harbor project in fiscal year 2009. The entity to
receive funding for this project is the US Army Corps of Engineers, San Francisco District,
located at 1455 Market Street, San Francisco, CA 94103-1398, in cooperation with the San
Francisco Department of Public Works, located at 30 Van Ness Ave 5th Floor, San Francisco,
94102. This funding would be used for maintenance dredging of various channels in San
Francisco Bay, including a 55 foot depth for the San Francisco Bar Channel, to provide safe
navigation for all vessel traffic in and out of the Bay. Included within this request are funds to
continue and finalize economic, engineering and environmental studies necessary for federal cost
sharing in placing dredged sediments along the eroded shores of Ocean Beach to protect critical
municipal infrastructure, including a storm water treatment tunnel and ocean sewage outfall. I
