COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Donald Trump's Ohio campaign manager on Saturday renounced its relationship with the Ohio Republican Party's top official, laying bare the long-simmering tensions over Trump's candidacy within the state GOP.
Bob Paduchik, a longtime campaign operative in Ohio, sent a two-page letter to the state GOP's central committee members on Saturday saying Ohio Republican Party Chairman Matt Borges no longer has a relationship with the campaign. The letter accuses Borges of exaggerating his relationship with Trump in media interviews, and undermining Trump's efforts to win in Ohio in order to advance his own candidacy to replace Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.
Paduchik writes that he spoke with Trump about Borges on Thursday, when Trump made a pair of Ohio campaign stops, and describes Trump as being "very disappointed with Borges' duplicity."
"It's no great secret that Chairman Borges was never fully on board, but his actions over the past week demonstrate that his loyalties to Governor John Kasich's failed Presidential campaign eclipse his responsibility as chairman of the Ohio Republican Party," Paduchik wrote. "The chairman is also apparently driven by an insatiable need for publicity."

Dear ,
‘The Trump-Pence slate of electors was unanimously approved by the Ohio GOP
State Central Committee on September 9 and it has been disappointing that
Chairman Matt Borges cannot support that decision.
This past week Chairman Borges conducted a self-promotional media tour with
state and national outlets to criticize our party’s nominee. I have no idea what
game he was playing. Some Ohio Republicans have described it as disgraceful, 1
find it utterly bizarre. Enclosed are several news articles you can read and decide
for yourself.
I spoke with Mr. Trump on Thursday and he is very disappointed in Matt’s
duplicity. Mr. Trump told me, "this is why people have lost faith in the
establishment and party leaders." I have to agree with him. Too often some
leaders of our party have been quick to bail on candidates and principles; it’s why
our nation is on the wrong track.
It’s no great secret that Chairman Borges was never fully on board, but his
actions over the last week demonstrate that his loyalties to Governor John
Kasich’s failed Presidential campaign eclipse his responsibility as Chairman of
the Ohio Republican Party. The Chairman is also driven by an apparently
insatiable need for publicity.
‘While many of you have been working hard to knock doors, make phone calls and
put up signs for our nominee and other GOP candidates, Chairman Borges has
been promoting himself for an all but declared campaign for Republican National
Committee Chairman. While you watched Mr. Trump’s debate victory at one of
our 47 debate watch parties, Chairman Borges was hosting a Cincinnati Enquirer
reporter in his home...to provide an exclusive article to promote his campaign for
chair of the RNC.
For the record, Chairman Borges has routinely exaggerated his relationship with
the candidate and the campaign. Chairman Borges does not represent or speak
for the candidate and he no longer has any affiliation with the Trump-Pence
campaign.
‘That said, we have great relationships with committee members, many elected
officials and county GOP chairs, all of whom are committed to working together

these are the people that will elect Mr. Trump and defeat Hillary Clinton.
‘The campaign expects the ORP to continue to support the Trump Victory payroll,
HR and other services it provides. If Chairman Borges refuses to continue
meeting that obligation, I respectfully ask the committee to direct the Chairman
to meet the party’s obligations.
Respectfully yours,
GH
