Rotating brownouts are the most alarming issues today because of the power
supply deficiency with this electricity hikes because of the fact that demand for electricity
is higher than supply, so from these common problems, the researcher has acknowledge
to design and construct a Solar Power Extension with Power Storage.
The study entitled Solar Power Extension with Power Storage is performed to
devise and construct an extension using the sun as the main source of energy and
electricity. It is mainly operated by a photovoltaic panel, which absorbs the suns rays for
generating electricity.
A locally available charge controller from an old battery is obtained. From a local
hardware, a switch is bought. From the researchers house, two 12 volts battery are
collected to be the storage of the energy in the study. Seven treatments are conducted to
evaluate the product. A charger of phone, electric fan, fluorescent light, laptop, radio,
LED Television and vacuum cleaner are plugged in to the product. Multiple connection
management also evaluates the product; two to three appliances can be plugged in
simultaneously.
The researcher finds the product beneficial in times of rotating or emergency
brownouts. The Solar Power Extension with Power Storage proves cheap, functional
and effective.
INTRODUCTION
The researchers study was made to produce a maximum power to appliances like
light, electric fan, LED television and charger of phones or laptop. This product aimed to
solve the power shortage problem of the country by powering appliances freely. It is
because of the help of the sun and its solar energy.
This study aims to prove that the solar energy coming from the sun is a reliable
source of electricity with the use of battery, inverter, charge controller and solar panel.
The researcher conducted this product to be able to know if the Solar Power Extension
with Power Storage has a major value to ones life. The purpose of this study is to know
how to make a Solar Power Extension with Power Storage and how does this study be
described in terms of the materials used, time and recordings to make the extension fully
charged, multiple connection management and life span.
METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the methods of research used in the study, the techniques of
collecting the data and the development of the research document, the materials used and
also the procedures:
Methods of Research
The experimental methods of research are use in this study. The experimental
method is a collection of research designs, which use manipulation and controlled testing
to understand causal processes. It is only the method of research that can truly test the
hypothesis concerning cause and effect relationship.
Researchs experimental record is systematic and scientific approach to research
in which the researcher manipulate one or more variables, and controls and measures any
change in other variables.
Collection and Preparation of Materials
This study utilizes a wide scope of materials, equipment and tools that are readily
available in the vicinity of our municipality. A locally available power inverter utilizes for
the providing of maximum power. A locally available 20 watts solar panel and 12 volts
battery to be mainly operated in the study are collected.
From a local electronic shop, also a 12 volts battery to be another source of power
is bought. In terms of household and industrial resources, needle nosed pliers,
screwdrivers, handsaw, screws and nails are used for the assembly and construction of the
product.
Assembly
Two wires lead from the junction box of the solar panel are connected to the
charge controller with negative charge and the positive charge is connected to the Battery
1. And the extending wire from the Battery 1 is connected to the Battery 2 with negative
charge and connected to the charge controller. The both batteries are connected to the
inverter. The inverter comprises a standard power plug, which the extension is connected.
For the enclosure of the product, recycled woods are assembled with the size of
solar panel with the dimension of 19.5 x 2.0.
Materials shall be assembled in the following diagram.

locally available 20 watts solar panel and two 12 volts battery to be mainly operated in
the study are collected. In addition, the switch for the charge controller was also
collected.

This illustrates how the life span of the extension changed in different appliances
and devices. The researcher plugged a 10 watts bulb and it lasted for 9 hours. A 15-inch
screen laptop with 60 watts lasted for more than 5 hours. A 12 volts electric fan lasted for
almost 6 hours and a transistor radio lasted for almost 8 hours. The LED Television and
the vacuum lasted for just 34 minutes. The wattage of an appliance did affect the life span
and define the capacity to supply a current of the product.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Conclusion
The Solar Powered Extension developed by the researcher through this study is
proven cheap, functional and effective in plugging appliances and devices. Moreover,
11
exploratory study employed by the researcher attests the improvised extension can be
really be an alternative and green way of conserving energy and power.
1. The Solar Power Extension with Power Storage can be use anywhere and
anytime.
2. The Solar Power Extension with Power Storage can provide a maximum 220
voltage just like a normal socket.
3. The Solar Power Extension with Power Storage is affordable and cheap.
Recommendations
1. For the researchers, it is best to make the Solar Power Extension with Power
Storage to have a long life span for the battery.
2. It is suggested to replace some spare parts used from the product for the
extension to be lightweight
3. It is also recommended to conduct further study on how to add more sockets
for the extension.
