As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting the
airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.

REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES
As a result of vendor testing, it has been shown that under specific circumstances, with a combination
of conditions, the fuel pump thermal fuses may not open in time to prevent fuel pump overheat and
subsequent in tank ignition. As a result a new standard of fuel pump motor has been developed with
improved thermal protection. The new standard restores compliance with the SFAR88 policy.
This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of A300 series aircraft of the issue of ZODIAC
Service Bulletin No. 2052C23-28-02.
This Service Bulletin installs the new standard of fuel pumps to all positions.
Fuel pumps can be modified to the latest standard by two means:
-

Return to vendor for exchange or modification

Modify in accordance with ZODIAC Service Bulletin No. 2052C23-28-02.

Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will improve the fuel pump thermal protection and fully restore
compliance to the SFAR88 policy. Full embodiment of this modification is expected to terminate the
repeat inspection requirements of AD 2013-0163.
