Remember in Prayer

BY

CALEB

What is Worship?
Im afraid that often when we worship, we forget why it is that we worship.
And sometimes, we forget why we are even able to worship. We are able to worship
God because of the relationship we have with Him.
We wouldn't be able to talk about how good food is at a restaurant that we
have never been to. Its after we have tried the food that we are able to talk about
how good it is. Essentially, that is how we are with God. To really enjoy praising
Him, we have to get to know Him. We have to develop a relationship with Him.
God wants nothing more than a relationship with each and everyone of us. He
loves us and wants us to know Him in a more deep and meaningful way. This
relationship will enable us to worship God and enjoy Him in a deeper way.
Hebrews 13:15 states, Therefore, by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice
of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. This
verse gives a lot of good examples of what praise is. It is a sacrifice, that means it
may take some work and effort and stepping out of what feels comfortable to give
praise. It also tells us that our lips should be giving thanks. That we should be
producing thanks to God.
We must never forget that worship starts with the heart. There are so many
things that we can thank God for. Whether it is the simple fact that we are
breathing, or for the food we get to eat, or for the friends that we have. It could be
taking time to think about all that God provides for us in Christ.
We can thank God that we are no longer lost in sin, but now a child of His.
We can thank Him for His faithfulness and goodness. There are so many things
that we can and should thank God for. Worship starts simply by taking time to
thank God for what He has done in our lives.
Challenge yourself today to not let your worship become stale, but to refocus
your attention on Jesus, Focus on who He is and what He has done for you.
With love,
Caleb Taylor
