Methodology
Research Design
This study is particularly aimed at analyzing the poverty awareness content of the
film, Pamilya Ordinaryo as observed through societys perspective of poverty,
expressed in multi-faceted platforms. In order to identify the level of poverty awareness
raised by the film, the researcher conducted the study using qualitative approach.
Qualitative research is involved with establishing definitions of social phenomena. That
is to say, it means to help us to comprehend the social world in which we live and why
things are how they are. (Hancock, Ockleford, Windridge, 2009) To further delve down
to the analysis of the phenomenon, the researcher must have a thorough study on
several aspects of the film. This study will be able to substantiate its worth through a
content analysis which is an effective way to scrutinize the features of the film.
Research Instrument
Through reviewing the film as personally seen by the researcher about Pamilya
Ordinaryo, the researcher is updated on the progressive stories related to them.
Utilizing these instruments, the researcher can observe and investigate the perceptions
among urban poor individuals as seen through them. The researcher based his
perception and judgment through a content analysis.

The researcher analyzed different components of the film such as dialogues,

setting, props, costumes, characterization, et cetera. Through this, the researcher can
peek through the characters point of view, relating it to the viewers perception of
poverty according to the film and its effectiveness in raising awareness. The researcher
formulated a coding sheet which gives and narrates specific values that are shown in
the film.
