GOD IS WAITING FOR YOU

Pablo Horna
TEXT: But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened
not to thy commandments, and refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that
thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a
captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and
merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not (Nehemiah 9:1617).
THESIS: To encourage us to remain faithful knowing all that God has been doing for us,
and to encourage others to obey the Gospel, to receive forgiveness and abundantly life.
INTRODUCTION:
1. In the creation, there is a species that was exceedingly blessed over the rest, a species
that God kept in mind, even when it does not exist yet. He created the world
thinking in that species. A place full of colors, details, wonders and stunning
environment, full of life and perfection. The human being is that species.
a. God is taking care of men since day zero (Genesis 1:27-31).
b. God provided to men a knowledge to face the life (Genesis 3:21; 4:4-5, 11).
c. God provided to his people (Israel) a law, a covenant (Deuteronomy 5:1-21).
d. God provided the Messiah, to bless all nations (Galatians 3:8).
2. But men since the beginning until today:
a. They have been proud.
b. They have been stubborn.
c. They have refused to obey God.
d. They have forgotten the greatness and blessings of God.
e. The have been rebels.
3. In this lesson, we will see the contrast of the nature of God and the response of men,
with the story of the Israelites narrated by eight Levites in the book of Nehemiah
(9:5), with the following points: (Nehemiah 9:17; Psalms 86:5).
a. God is ready to forgive.
b. God wants to forgive.
DISCUSSION:
I. GOD IS READY TO FORGIVE
A. The history of the Israelites is an evidence of forgiveness:
1. Israelites turn their back on God (Nehemiah 9:16-17):
1.) They were proud.
2.) They were stubborn.
3.) They were rebels.
4.) The refused to obey God.

B. God proclaims to Moses forgiveness (Exodus 34:7)

1. Forgiveness is a matter of divine grace, it is a gift of God, none is
worthy of this grace. God said to Moses: I will be gracious to
whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I
will show compassion (Genesis 33:19).
2. Forgiveness is something which we, as guilty sinners, have no right to
expect or demand.
3. The imagination of mens heart is evil (Genesis 8:21).
C. God did many wonders for the Israelites: (Nehemiah 9:18:25)
1. God brought them out of Egypt: He released them from slavery with
many wonders.
2. God did not forsake them in the wilderness: a pillar of cloud by day, a
pillar of fire by night follow them to guide them in their way (v.9).
3. God instruct them, gave them bread and water: He fed them in all
senses: spiritually and physically (v.20).
4. God took care of them for forty years: (v.21).
5. God gave them a land, He made of them a nation, gave them kingdoms
(v.22).
6. God fulfilled his promise of a land and he made them be multiplied as
the stars (v.23).
7. God provided them of a fertile land with the one they were satisfied
(v.25).
8. But they were disobedient and rebelled against God (Nehemiah 9:26).
a. They cast the law of God behind their back (v.26).
b. They were punished (v.27). (Exodus 34:7; John 5:28-29).
c. They were forgiven when they cried unto Him (v.27).
d. But they were disobedient again (v.28).
e. They were punished again (v.28)
f. Many times this was repeated (v.28).
9. God was ready to forgive them, and he did several times.
II. GOD WANTS TO FORGIVE
A. If God is always ready to forgive is because he wants to forgive men.

that the people of Israelites had and how they respond with
disobedient to that (1 Corinthians 1:1-10).
b. The Israelites are an example for us (1 Corinthians 10:11).

4. Jesus came to give abundant life (John 10:10).

5. Jesus offered himself for the sin (Hebrews 10:10; John 1:29).
C. Jesus is the author of salvation for the ones that obey his Word (Hebrews 5:9).
1. Are you willing to receive the forgiveness of God?
a. You must hear his word in order to have faith (Romans 10:17)b. You must believe that Jesus is the son of God (Mark 16:16).
c. You must confess his name (Romans 10:9).

of sins (Acts 22:16; Mark 16:16).
e. And remain faithful (Matthew 10:22; Revelations 2:10; 3:21).
