'D2' TYPE SHIFTING TOOL

The D2 Type Shifting Tool is used to provide a controlled, selective method of opening and closing BFC Model L
type sliding sleeves. The D2 Shifting Tool has a locating collet which indicates to the operator when a sliding
sleeve is reached and also when the tool has passed through a sleeve or nipple.
When the D2 Type Shifting Tool has either opened or closed a sliding sleeve, the tool will give a positive indication
that the shift has been successful, if an attempt is made to repeat the operation in the same sleeve. If a tool is
used to open a sleeve and the pressure difference is greater in the annulus, the tools release mechanism is held by
the flow until the pressure has balanced and the tool can be removed. When the tool is seated in a sleeve it can be
released without shifting the closing sleeve.
The D2 Type Shifting Tools can be used to trip and shut sliding sleeves in the same run when run in tandem.
