October 5, 2016

You say that I am a king, and you are right, Jesus said. I was born for that
purpose. And I came to bring truth to the world. All who love the truth
recognize that what I say is true.
John 18:37 NLT
PRAISES
Audrey Riggins
Two-year-old Audrey Riggins was hospitalized last week with pneumonia. We
give praise to the Lord that she is back home with her family and improving.
Pray for her complete healing. Audrey is the child of missionaries Scot and
Jill Riggins who serve in the Philippines.
PRAY FOR:
Hurricane Matthew
This week, Hurricane Matthew swept over many of the islands in the
Caribbean. Pray for all people who have been affected. Nazarene
Compassionate Ministries (NCM) will keep us informed as how to pray
specifically in the storms aftermath. Check the PML Facebook
(www.Facebook.com/NMIPrayer) or NCM Facebook pages for updates.
Refugee Internet Radio

In northeastern Africa, Nazarenes are serving refugees in innovative

ways...one of which is radio ministry. There is a lack of openness to
Christianity among people in the refugee camps. However, World Mission
Broadcast (WMB) programs deal with subjects such as reconciliation, peace,
hope, love, public hygiene, relationships, family and marriage. Through these
neutral topics, the people find many needs met, and every message brings
them Gods comfort. Theyre scared, worker Gabor explains. They lack
peace, so we talk about peace. They lack love; talk about love. They lack
hope; we talk about hope.
Pray that the WMB programs in northeastern Africa will reach refugee
listeners at the point of their need and that they will respond by believing in
Christ.
Displaced People
Reports on people being displaced from their homelands fill our news cycles.
On the Eurasia Region, we often hear about people fleeing one area due to
war, conflict and persecution and trying to resettle into new communities.
Pray for people all over the world who have to establish new lives in foreign
places.
October Missionary Prayer Focus
Please pray for the requests of these missionaries who are part of the
October Prayer Focus:
Alan and Glenda Miner, preparing to serve in Costa Rica

Pray that we will be a blessing to the pastors and missionaries that

are our students of ESL (English as a Second Language) in Costa
Rica.
Pray that we will be a positive and helpful addition to the staff at the
seminary in Costa Rica.
Sheryl Uyeda, preparing to serve in Papua New Guinea

Pray for the documentation I need to arrive so that I can live and
work in Papua New Guinea for the Kudjip Hospital.
Pray for my preparations in mind and spirit.
Pray that my remaining time in the US will be fruitful for the kingdom.

Paul and Beatrice Mtambo, serving in Zambia

Remember our people who are suffering from hunger due to poor
rainfall that resulted in crop failure last season.
The country of Zimbabwe is experiencing a serious economic
situation and this has greatly affected the church.
Pray that the Lord will open doors for the Church of the Nazarene to
enter new areas where it is not yet.
South America Meetings
Pray for the men and women who will travel to a meeting in South America
this week where they will consider a pilot regional strategy project. In
addition, meeting attendees will bring before the Lord evangelism and
JESUS Film Harvest Partners work on the region. May the Lords guidance
be clearly heard and may participants be renewed to continue leading people
in South America to Christ and to making disciples.
General Superintendents
Pray for the General Superintendents as they travel and minister around the
world this month:
Jerry D. Porter
J. K. Warrick
Eugnio Duarte
David W. Graves
David A. Busic
Gustavo A. Crocker
HEALTH-REALTED REQUESTS
David Potter
Prayer is requested for missionary David Potter who is in the United States
undergoing treatment for a detached retina. Recently, he underwent one
surgery and another surgery is scheduled for October 10th. Please commit to
pray for David's recovery and for his wife, Sylvia, and the family during this
time. David and Sylvia were in the states due to the passing of Davids father
when the need for retinal surgery was discovered. The Potters serve in
Vanuatu.

Stan Toler
Pray for General Superintendent Emeritus Stan Toler who was recently
diagnosed with cancer and has begun treatment. May the Lord completely
heal Dr. Toler.
Baru Dirye
Pray for Baru Dirye who has been diagnosed with cancer. Baru is a top
administrator for Nazarene Health Ministries in Papua New Guinea. He and
his wife, Christina, also lead a very successful church plant.
GLOBAL CONCERNS Body of Christ
Praying Through the 10/40 Window

October is traditionally when believers in Christ focus prayers on people who

live in the 10/40 Window. The 10/40 Window is an area of the world that
spans across nations in northern Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
Below are some statistics from Windows International Network. Pray
as you read about:

Two-thirds of the world's population4 billion peoplelive in the

10/40 Window
95% of these 4 billion people are unevangelized
87% are the poorest of the poor, living on an average of only $250
per family annually.
In many of the 69 nations, witnessing the Christian Gospel is illegal
and will result in imprisonment or death.
45 of the 50 worst countries in the world for persecution of
Christians are in the 10/40
