Prep Day Work

SET ASIDE YOUR MOST WORN ITEMS

DO LAUNDRY!

The day before you being this process, head to

your closet and select your most worn pieces.
This could be anywhere from 5-20 items. You
wont have to think too much about each
piece -- you know which clothes you turn to
time and time again!

Although you can still go through this process

with dirty clothing, it is much better to do all
your laundry first. Youll immediately be able
to wear what you return to your closet, and
you wont have to wash any items before
donating them.

Once you have chosen these pieces, make

room for them on the right side of your
closet. Well return to these on Day 7.

SCHEDULE, SCHEDULE, SCHEDULE!

Set aside time to complete your work every
day. It will take about an hour or two!

THE PROCESS
For days 1-6 you will follow the same process:
1. Collect all of the pieces you own for the item category of the day. Make sure you
grab everything from all over your house.
2. Pile the items up on your floor (lay a sheet or tarp down if preferred.)
3. Snap a photo of the pile!
4. Count up all the items in the pile before you discard and make a note.
5. Go through each piece and ask yourself the questions on the next page.
6. Write down important notes in a notebook, in this workbook, or in a document on
your computer.
7. Put all discards in a trash bag and throw away. (Think: can you use any for rags?)
8. Box/bag up any items good enough to donate.
9. Count up the items you are keeping and jot it in the spreadsheet.
10. Put all clothes back in your closet to the right of everything else. If some of the
items go into drawers, keep these pieces together.
11. RELAX
Dont forget to take before and
after shots of your piles each day!

THE QUESTIONS

For each item, ask yourself these questions:

#1
DOES THIS SPARK JOY?
As Marie Kondo would have you ask!

If yes, then...

#2
DOES IT NEED SPECIAL CARE OR
MENDING?
Make note in the table
If no, then...

#3
IS THERE A FUNCTIONAL REASON IM
KEEPING THIS?

Limit these pieces to uniforms, sports gear & special occasion wear
that may be difficult to replace.

The Results

So, lets take a look at how far youve come! I know it may have
been a pain to take pictures and count each item as you went along, but
objective measurements can be really satisfying! Write down all the totals from
each day, tally them up, and see just how many pieces you weeded out.
