Computers are being used more and more in education.

Some people say that this is a positive trend, while others
argue that it is leading to negative consequences.
Discuss both sides of this argument and then give your
own opinion.
There is an ever increasing use of technology, such as tablets and
laptops, in the classroom. It is often argued that this is a positive
development, whilst others disagree and think it will lead
to adverse ramifications. It is agreed that an increase in
technology is beneficial to students and teachers. This essay will
discuss both points of view before coming to a reasoned
conclusion.
It is clear that the internet has provided students with access to
more information than ever before. Moreover, learners have the
ability to research and learn about any subject at the touch of a
button. It is therefore agreed that technology is a very worthwhile
tool for education. Wikipedia is a prime example, where students
can simply type in any keyword and gain access to in-depth
knowledge quickly and easily.
However, many disagree and feel that technology deprives
people of real human interaction. Human interaction teaches
people valuable skills such as discourse, debate and
empathy. Despite this, human interaction is still possible through
the internet and this essay disagrees technology should be
dismissed for this reason. For instance, Skype and Facebook make
it possible for people to interact in ways that were never before
possible.
In conclusion, while the benefits of technology, particularly the
internet, allow students to tap in to limitless sources of
information, some still feel that people should be wary of this new
phenomenon and not allow it to curb face to face interaction.
However, as long as we are careful to keep in mind the
importance of human interaction in education, the educational
benefits are clearly positive.

Some people think that all university students should

study whatever they like. Others believe that they should
only be allowed to study subjects that will be useful in the
future, such as those related to science and technology.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
People have different views about how much choice students
should have with regard to what they can study at university.
While some argue that it would be better for students to be
forced into certain key subject areas, I believe that everyone
should be able to study the course of their choice.
There are various reasons why people believe that universities
should only offer subjects that will be useful in the future. They
may assert that university courses like medicine, engineering and
information technology are more
likely to be beneficial than certain art degrees. From a personal
perspective, it can be argued that these courses provide more job
opportunities, career progression, better salaries, and therefore
an improved quality of life for students who take them. On the
societal level, by forcing people to choose particular university
subjects, governments can ensure that any knowledge and skill
gaps in the economy are covered. Finally, a focus on technology
in higher education could lead to new inventions, economic
growth, and greater future prosperity.
In spite of these arguments, I believe that university students
should be free to choose their preferred areas of study. In my
opinion, society will benefit more if our students are passionate
about what they are learning. Besides, nobody can really predict
which areas of knowledge will be most useful to society in the
future, and it may be that employers begin to value creative
thinking skills above practical or technical skills. If this were the
case, perhaps we would need more students of art, history and
philosophy than of science or technology.
In conclusion, although it might seem sensible for universities to
focus only on the most useful subjects, I personally prefer the

current system in which people have the right to study whatever

they like.

Some people say that television is a very useful tool when

it comes to education. Others argue that television is a
much overused, ineffective teacher.
Discuss both of these views and give your opinion as to
the usefulness of television as an educational tool.
People are divided in opinion if television is a great source of
education and knowledge or not. Both of these two groups have
their reasoning and logics. In this essay I will discuss both the
viewpoint to represent the effectiveness and drawbacks of TV as
the source of education.
To mention the disadvantages, television channels are too much
commercial nowadays and they would produce any program to
attract people no matter if they are authentic or not. There are
plenty of choices for channels and people tend to use their TV as
an entertainment media than an educational source. The biased
news, politically influenced talk show etc. often mislead people
and that has a very negative impact on the society. Programs that
contain violence, negative impression often distracts young
people and the addiction on TV programs often restrain people
from doing other important activities. TV is a great source of
knowledge sharing but the programs choice must be prudent to
learn something from it and most of the people fail to do so.
On the other hand, there are lots of advantages of TV according
to a group and these advantages supersede the disadvantages as
they opine. There are always options for a TV viewer and if s/he
takes it as a medium of educational sources, the can always do

so. It is an effective medium for updating people about the

current news, different viewpoints and current affairs. People no
longer need to travel a great deal to learn about other countries
and it is TV that actually made it possible. Channels like
Discovery, National Geography have been successfully
broadcasting education channels and they are hugely popular
around the globe. This is a strong tool for a government to
communicate with mass people to deliver a massage. After a
stressful day at work people often find it refreshing to watch
music, movies, soap opera, reality shows, travel shows at their
homes and there is no argument that those things have their
educational references well rooted into.
In conclusion, TV can be a great source for education if properly
and prudently watched and also can be a negative factor for
some people if their program choice is somehow negative.

Some people believe that studying at university or college

is the best route to a successful career, while others
believe that it is better to get a job straight after school.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.

When they finish school, teenagers face the dilemma of whether

to get a job or continue their education. While there are some
benefits to getting a job straight after school, I would argue
that it is better to go to college or university.
The option to start work straight after school is attractive
for several reasons. Many young people want to start earning
money as soon as possible. In this way, they can become
independent, and they will be able to afford their own house or
start a family. In terms of their career, young people who decide
to find work, rather than continue their studies, may progress
more quickly. They will have the chance to gain real experience

and learn practical skills related to their chosen profession. This

may lead to promotions and a successful career.

On the other hand, I believe that it is more beneficial for

students to continue their studies. Firstly, academic
qualifications are required in many professions. For example, it is
impossible to become a doctor, teacher or lawyer without having
the relevant degree. As a result, university graduates have
access to more and better job opportunities, and they tend to
earn higher salaries than those with fewer qualifications.
Secondly, the job market is becoming increasingly competitive,
ad sometimes there are hundreds of applicants for one position in
a company. Young people who do not have qualifications from a
university or college will not be able to compete.
For the reasons mentioned above, it seems to me
that students are more likely to be successful in their careers if
they continue their studies beyond school level.

Some people think that the teenage years are the happiest of our
lives, while others believe that adult life brings more happiness.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Every person wants to enjoy each stage of life happily. Some
people believe that the best phase of life is teenage, while others
perceive that adulthood is the happiest period.
Adults can live joyfully in the following ways. Firstly, they can use
the money earned in their profession to buy things which enable
them to lead quality life. Further, they can have peace of mind as
they start saving for future. Secondly, they are matured enough

to understand what really makes them cheerful on a sustained

basis with minimal effort. Due to this, they can rejoice every
moment of their life as they could foresee and adjust accordingly.
Thirdly, they can experience wide variety of events such as
becoming a husband, father etc. Hence, they can enjoy life to the
fullest possible extent. For instance, I became much happier and
enjoying the role of husband after getting life partner. On the
whole, adulthood provides plenty of opportunities to please
ourselves.
On the other hand, teenage is also pleasurable in several ways.
Primarily, teenage people do not have any obligations or duties,
therefore they can find free time to play the sports they like.
Secondarily, the mistakes made by them are forgiven easily as
they do not have maturity. Consequently, they can explore novel
things which intrigue them. Nevertheless, sometimes they may
get addicted to harmful habits such as smoking due to lack of
mental maturity.
To conclude, I opine that, adulthood is more enjoyable compared
to teenage as they can experience diverse things which make life
fulfilling despite the responsibilities, whilst teenagers can enjoy
only a limited and specific set of things.

Some people think success in life comes from hardworking and

determination. Others think money and appearance are more
important.
Discuss both sides and give your opinion.
Success nowadays becomes an ultimate goal that most of people
desire to achieve. However, there are widely different views on

the controversy of whether hardworking and determination or

money and appearance are more important in order to be
successful in life. I personally think that there is no success
without hard work.
As people said Practice makes perfect, it is undoubted that
hardworking and determination are an integrate part to create
success. Not everyone was born with talent; thus, for who does
not have that inborn gifts, working hard is the best way leading
them to success. One admirable example of successful person by
hardworking is Adam Khoo, a Singaporean serial entrepreneur,
national best-selling author, trainer and professional trader. His
achievement did not derive from talent, but hours and hours
practicing and getting up from multiple failures.
In contrast, some people think that money and appearance are
the more main elements resulting in success in life. Since money
and appearance do not last long, this achievement also exists in
a short period of time. Many idols succeed just right after debut
due to their stunning appearance, yet it will be soon unattractive
to audiences. Therefore, they still have to practice and improve
their performance thousands of hours to keep in reputation.
To sum up, money and appearance are only elements which can
help us succeed at the beginning of our career. Hardworking and
determination is the keys to step forward and reap the long-term
success.

Some people want the main purpose of television should be

education while others think that TV should be for entertainment
only. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.
A group of people recommend that the major duty of the entertaining
box, so called television, is to telecast thoughtful programmes that
educate the viewers. In contrast, others firmly believe that TV is
designed solely for entertaining the people. In my view, I suggest that
both education and entertainment are to be given equal preferences
amid this dual opinion.

On one hand, it is argued that educational related contents

should be given the high priority due to various reasons. One of
the reasons is televisions act as the sole device to teach people
effectively, since it occupies a much time in our every days life.
Therefore, our leisure time can be spent informatively. Another
significant reason is the programs that are bases on numerous
meaningful educational contents not only improve the cognitive
function of young minds, but also save their valuable childhood
time to shape their brain, and it mold them to move in a right
direction for a successful career. For instance, History TV channel
gives much more importance in telecasting ancient history and
scientific programs, which are so meaningful, helps children
substantially. Hence, it is expected that TV must mainly broadcast
the necessarily thoughtful programs.
On the other hand, it is arguable that entertainment is the sole factor
for which TVs are made. As in this contemporary, busy world, majority
of people lead a stressful life, and they require an instant energetic
refreshment through entertainment in the form of video songs, movies,
and game shows. Also, it is proved that, for example, hearing
melodious music decreases the pressure and tension, and keep our
body and mind refilled with adequate energy which is much needed for

our next day work. Thus, it is suggested that TVs should vastly render
entertaining programs.
In conclusion, after analyzing from both sides, I am convinced that both
educational and entertainment contents which are telecast in mixed
proportions in different TV channels equally boosts youngsters
knowledge and adults energy that cater their need. After all, humans
are not robots to live their life in a robotic manner, hence, relevant age
group people should be provided with their favorite shows according to
their interest

Some people argue that cars should be banned in city centres

while others are against this idea.
Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
In Modern Life cars play an important role in daily activities. It's
one of the inventions that make human's life much easier,
meanwhile it has it's own drawbacks as well such as pollution,
traffic and noise. Some people believe that although cars are
useful, they should be banned in city center while other group of
individuals are totally against it.
According first point of view, cars make the environment polluted
and noisy and conclude that it should be banned in city center
which is too crowded. They believe people have to waste their
valuable time in heavy traffic jams. Moreover, they believe by
reducing the number of cars in the streets government can save
a huge amount of petrol.
There is another view which is against the previous one. People of
this group believe that government shouldn't banned cars in city
center because a large group of people live and work in this area
not in country side. In their point of view there are solutions for
solving the former problems. For instance, by building multi-story
parking spaces we can reduce the traffic problem because many
cars are waiting and rounding to find a parking space which

makes traffic jam or by using clean fuels for cars the pollution
problem can be solved. In the worst situation, for reducing the
number of cars government can divided cars into 2 groups by
their number plates for entering the city center area .
To sum up, in my opinion it's not essential to ban cars.
Government can train people about using cars. It will be
beneficial specially if they train children who are our next
generation. The can spread using bicycles instead of cars in some
hectic areas.

Some people think it is easier for adults to learn practical skills

(such as computer skills) by themselves while others believe it is
better to learn with a teacher in classroom. Discuss both sides
and give your own opinion.
In today's world, education and vocational skills are definitely
crucial in order to get a job in this competitive employment.
Consequently, it is very important for young adults to have valuable
skills such computer skills as these would be useful in the future.
Some still discuss about how people should learn practical skills.
Some assert that these vocational skills can learn by self-study,
while others think that having instructors is a better way to gain
these experiences. Both sides will be discussed in this essay,
carefully .
To begin with, there are many reasons to support the self- learning
side. Firstly, the accessibility of study materials become very easy
these days, since the technology has improved in modern lives.
Students can access to a wide range of information on the internet
or public libraries. Therefore, there is no obstacles in self-study
method anymore. Secondly, after individuals had been studying in

education systems for several years, most young adults become

more mature and responsible on their paces. Most young adults are
inquisitive, motivated and conscientious as they always improve
their knowledge or develop specific skills on their own in order to
become an expert. As a result, the boundaries of self- learning could
disappear completely, if a person has a strong passion to learn by
using various study materials or mutual-sharing groups on websites
or public libraries.

On the other hand, others argue that it is still better to study with
qualified teachers or enter to educational institution. This is
because, having an instructor will help a learner to get an
effective result than self- learning because one will obtain an
useful feedback and acquires hand-on experiences with a
specialist directly. When a learner has any inquiry, he/she can ask
an educator for a clear explanation or a demonstrate. In
addition, qualified teachers are able to evaluate and apply study
tools with different students effectively, thus learners could get a
rapid progress than learn somethings by themselves.
In conclusion, in my opinion, if a person can control himself to
focus on his studies, self-study will suit him the most, however if
a person wants to gain a greater result efficiently, studying from
coaches would be useful for him.
