TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Definitions
The following terms are defined here for the purpose of this document and
consent form:
Race refers to all aspects, not limited to the planning, organisation and
execution, of the charity hitchhike known as Race2.
Hitch refers to the hitch-hiking component of the Race.
Participant refers to any student taking part in the Race.
The committee refers to the entire Race2 committee responsible for organising
the Race, headed by the Race2 coordinator or any individual member of the
Race2 committee who has been delegated relevant power by the Race2
committee.
The hostel refers to Czech Inn (Prague).
University refers to the the University of St Andrews.
Students Association refers to the St Andrews Students Association.
Team refers to a group of participants.
The entry fee is 60.
The start of the Hitch will be 4:00AM on Friday 13 January
A participants end time will be, under normal circumstances, the moment they
are checked into the hostel by the committee. In extraordinary circumstances,
the end time may be when the committee disqualifies a participating team from
the race.

Terms and Conditions


Participants must be matriculated students of the University at the time of the
hitch and be aged 18 years or over. Participants under the age of 18 must obtain
legal written consent to the satisfaction of the committee in order to participate.

Participants must provide next of kin emergency contact details to the


satisfaction of the committee.

Participants must take part in the hitch in teams of two or three. At least one
participant per team must be male.
Participants acknowledge that they are responsible for their own safety and the
safety of their belongings throughout the duration of the hitch. Participants
acknowledge that the committee strongly encourages them to have relevant
travel insurance and that this will be their own responsibility.
Participants acknowledge they must make payable the entry fee to the
satisfaction of the committee before they will be allowed to take part in the hitch.
Participants acknowledge that they are responsible for their own expenses which
may include food, accommodation and transport.
Participants acknowledge that while taking part in the hitch they will be
representing the University and accept that if the University deems them to have
behaved improperly they may be subject to disciplinary action.
Participants will be considered so until such a time as they complete the hitch
and are checked in by the committee or are disqualified by the committee.
Each participant agrees to raise at least 150 to be made payable to the
Charities Campaign of the Students Association before 20 February 2017. This
constitutes a participants sponsorship. Participants acknowledge that the
Students Association may take disciplinary action against them if they fail to
make payable the sponsorship set out above. Disqualified participants will still be
required to complete the sponsorship requirements.
The committee may at its discretion pay out a partial sign-up fee refund (30) to
any individual participant who raises at least 500 in sponsorship or a full signup fee refund (60) to any individual participant who raises at least 1000 in
sponsorship.
Participants agree not to arrange or book any form of travel that will be taken
during the duration of the hitch, before the start of the hitch. Participants
acknowledge that doing so may be grounds for disqualification.
The committee will be responsible for providing accommodation in the hostel to
participants who arrive before the night of the 17th January 2017 and after 13th

January 2017. Up to a maximum of two nights will be available for those who
arrive before the 17th January 2017, with this offer ending on the afore
mentioned date. Participants acknowledge that if they arrive on the 17th they
will only have a room available for that night. Rooms will be available for all
participants at a discounted rate for any further nights in the hostel.

Participants acknowledge that they are responsible for their own transport and
accommodation once they have arrived in Prague, with the exception of the 2
nights accommodation which will be provided for by the committee.
The committee will be available to provide support for participants for the
majority of the hitch; however, participants are ultimately solely responsible for
their own safety and wellbeing throughout the race.
Participants acknowledge that the committee stops providing support at 8.00pm
on 17th January 2017.
The committee reserve the right to alter aspects of the race. Every effort will be
made to ensure all participants are made aware of changes.
