Psychometric testing
Psychometric testing is a way of evaluating
personality or ability. The tests are used by many
companies in the recruitment process, either in
addition to, or instead of, a traditional interview.
When a person is at the beginning of their career
and doesnt have much work experience, it can be
useful to have a tool that will enable organizations to
recruit people with the right mix of abilities and
personal attributes. The main types of tests are
aptitude tests and personality tests. The first usually
tests verbal and numerical skills. If a candidate
gives illogical responses, it is unlikely that they will
be suited to a job that demands analytical skills.
Another way of testing someones personality is
through handwriting. This is more controversial, as
graphology is not considered to be a science. Many
people agree that a person with illegible handwriting
is likely to be disorganized, and perhaps even
impatient. However, it is more difficult to see the
connection between the way they write and qualities
such as being ambitious or unreliable.
