You are advised to write between 250 and 350 words for this section.
You should read the information carefully and plan your answer before writing.
The Residents Committee (RC) in your neighbourhood recently organised a block party
as a platform for the committee members to know the residents and to recruit new
members. It also aims to help the residents be better acquainted with their neighbours.
Below are some comments you heard while you were at the party.
Rahmat, 42: Im thankful for the effort put in. But I wish that the RC members would be
more visible. I had wanted to speak to them but it took me a long while before I could
identify one of them.
Joo Chen, 18: This is the most boring party Ive been to. There were no games, no
activities, only stage shows that will only appeal to old people and little children. It is the
last time I will have anything to do with the RC.
Jennifer, 39: It was really good to know some of my neighbours. I have always seen
them around but didnt dare to speak to them. Thanks to the party, I got to know some of
them and was able to exchange contact numbers, which will be useful in case of
emergencies.
Sami, 68: Im so glad I can finally see some of the RC members and complain to them
about my inconsiderate neighbours.
As a concerned resident, write a letter to the President of the Residents Committee,
letting him / her know how effective the block party was in achieving its objectives
and what you would like to see in future block parties.
Set your letter out correctly, in clear accurate English and use an appropriate tone to
convince him / her that your suggestions will benefit the residents and the RC.
