Course Structure
We are oering GATE 2017 Classes at Bangalore which also includes Aerospace GATE test
series.
All technical subjects from basics like Fluid-Gas-Thermo Dynamics, Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Vibration,
Engineering Mathematics etc. till advanced level subjects like Aerodynamics, Aircraft Structure, Aircraft
Propulsion, Space Dynamics, Advanced Mathematics etc. will be covered in the class.
Classes will be conducted till GATE 2017 examination.
It also includes Aerospace GATE Online-O ine test series
Apart from test series, regular class tests will be conducted to keep the preparation of every student upto
date.

Aerodynamics

1. Introduction to ight by John D. Anderson, Jr

2. Fundamentals of Aerodynamics by John D.
Anderson, Jr
3. Aircraft performance and Design by John D.
Anderson, Jr
4. Modern Compressible ow by John D.
Anderson, Jr
5. Aerodynamics for engineering Students by
Houghton and Caruthers
6. Mechanics of Flight by A.C. Kermode
7. Airplane Stability and Automatic control by
Robert Nelson
8. Aerodynamics by Clancy

The rst four books by Anderson

are the best introductory books for
Aerodynamics and Gas dynamics.
The author makes every topic
interesting and provides some
history behind each topic. Fifth
book is very good book with good
examples and their explanations.
Sixth is the basic book with good
explanation. Seventh is a great
book on stability and control. The
text starts o with the basics and
then gradually moves on to more
intensive topics. The last one is
good book for Aircraft Performance
and Stability and Control theory.

Fluid Mechanics,
Gas Dynamics and
Thermodynamics

1. Fluid Mechanics by Frank M. White

2. Fundamentals of Gas Dynamics by R.D.
Zucker
3. Gas Dynamics by E. Rathakrishanan
4. Advance Thermodynamics for Engineers by
Desmond E Winterbone

First book is a very practical book

on the given subject, that doesn't
get bogged down with excessive
math. Last three books are very
good books to teach yourself the
respective subjects, easy to read
and understand.

Engineering
Mathematics

1. Advance Engineering Mathematics by Erwin

Kreyszig
2. Advance Engineering Mathematics by Dean
G.Du y
3. Numerical methods by Joe D.Ho mann

First two books include step-bystep chapters on almost every

math topic in engineering. Most of
the GATE exam mathematics
syllabus is covered in these books.
The last book gives you more
problems with its solutions on a
respective topic.

Aircraft and Rocket

Propulsion

1. Elements of Gas Turbine Propulsion by Jack

D. Mattingly
2. Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics of Turbomachinery by S.L.Dixon
3. Elements of Rocket Propulsion by George P.
Sutton
4. Rocket and Spacecraft Propulsion by Martin
J.L.Turner

First book is very easy to read and

gives lot of examples. The second is
little bit theoretical with good
practical explanation. I really don't
have any other books to compare
the third book. I guess that speaks
to the quality of this book. Finally
the last one is good for theory part.

Space Dynamics

Aircraft Structures
and Vibration

1. Introduction to space sciences and

spacecraft applications by Bruce A.
Campbell
2. Spacecraft Propulsion by Charles Brown

This book is exactly what is says an introduction. It's a great place to

start on the given topic. Then go
two the second book which will
give the real feel of spacecraft
propulsion with examples and their
solutions.

1. Analysis and design of Flight vehicle

structure by Bruhn
2. Aircraft structure for Engineering Student's
by T.H.G. Megson
3. Strength of Material (Volume I and II) by S.
Timoshenko
4. Mechanical Vibration by V.P. Singh

In the rst three books, the topic

can be a little daunting at rst but I
think these books does a good job
by explaining the respective topics
step by step. Best books for the
given subject. The forth one is very
basic book on the vibration.

Note : The given opinion is our personal opinion about the books. There are many books available on the given
subjects which student can refer according to their level of understanding and the availability of the book.
