1. TVS, HQ is in Chennai, Plants in Hosur, Mysore, Himachal Pradesh and
Indonesia. 2. Every Diploma guy who is hired (fresher) is designated as workmen and they should be from Mechanical stream. 3. But if a guy is from other stream like (e.g. electical or instrumentation) is hired based upon the requirement and the intensity of hiring such candidates is pretty less compared to mechanical stream. The same follows even with Engineering candidates. 4. Guys who are hired newly are replacements for the already existing designation and these candidates can take the place after they are well trained if in case of freshers, but if the candidate is experienced then they are hired directly. 5. The two categories of People are hired, they are Diploma and Engineering. Diploma candidates are hired particularly for production department. Engineers are hired for design jobs, development, problem handling and maintenance of the plant production activities 6. Roughly about 40,000 all across India and globe. But in our plant its around 5,000-6,000 employees 7. Every newbee is taken as a trainee after 2-2.5yrs he is upscaled to Team Leader, then to Supervisor, Unit manager and Ulitmately as a manager. But this requires that the employees are totally dedicated in case of diploma holders and Engineers. (ITIs are not considered in this scenario). 8. The attrition rate for Trainees is 18%, but in the case of permanent employees it is nil as hardly few people quit the company and they put 58yrs of service into the company those who are into permanent role. 9. If a newbee or an already existing trainee has to become a permanent employee in the case of ITIs they have to put in 15months of service to reach the next level 10. Diploma candidates have to serve 2-2.5yrs as trainees but their actual training period is for 3yrs only after serving these time they become elligible for the role of permanent employees 11. In the case of engineers to become permanent employees they have to again serve 2-2.5yrs as trainees and an additional 6months before they could become a permanent employee. 12. Every newbee hired should be unskilled, checking and verification on their background, criminal records and qualification is checked before even he could face the interview. 13. Hiring process starts with Personal Interview, Anticedant verification, Medical tests, Psychometric tests. 14. The most Important of all is when a newbee serves his/her respective a tenure he is to take up another round of interview. This is an internal interview which is conducted to upscale the employee to the next higher position, where the interviewee is asked about the understanding of the job, his roles & responsibilities till now and in the future that he is gonna put in the future. Then
all the above test are conducted all over again.
15. When it comes to the recruitment method and mode of conducting it is, TVS handles all the recruitment process, it doesn't outsource the recruitment activities to any agency as such. When there is a huge requirement, they conduct a mass marketing in various media. Once this and the interview process is done, the next step would be for training the candidates. TVS has a dedicated team who train every single candidate and even this process in not outsourced. This is the prime reason why they go in for unskilled employees. 16. mainly we are concentrating on Dip. and ITI students. BE students are not that prefered in current situation. 17. Automobile grads are hired for R&D and Produciton grads for the above purpose and surveys, electrical grads are hired for production maintainance and quality assurance 18. Recruitment are of two types, one is by IR and the other is from HR. IR will conduct the contractual labour hiring and HR(what he does) hires people from colleges. Mainly they are engineers, who are taken as trainees and later based upon their performance they are upscaled to higher positions 19. Aptitude, Technical, Group Discussion, Personal Interview. (recruitment process changes from designation to designation, above mentioned process is followed only for operations and supervisors) 20. Plant Activities in Production: 1-Vehicle Assembly 2- Engine Assembly 3-Storage 4- Machine Shop 5- Paint Shop 6- Engineering 7- Fabrication. 21.
