Preparation of Technical Paper for the IEI Pune

Local Centre Journal

Abstract-- This document is itself an example of the

desired layout and can be used as a template. The
document contains information regarding desktop
publishing format, type and sizes. Style & rules are
provided that explain how to handle equations, units,
figures, tables & abbreviations. Sections are also devoted
to the preparation of acknowledgments, references, and
authors' biographies. The abstract is limited to 100 words
and will not contain equations, figures, tables, or
references. It should concisely state what was done, how
it was done, principal results, and their significance.
Index Terms--The author shall provide up to 10
keywords to help identify the major topics of the paper.

1. INTRODUCTION

HIS document provides an example of the desired

layout for the paper and can be used as a template
for Microsoft Word versions 6.0 and later. It contains
information regarding desktop publishing format, type
sizes, and typefaces. Style rules are provided that
explain how to handle equations, units, figures, tables,
abbreviations, and acronyms. Sections are also devoted
to the preparation of acknowledgments, references, and
authors biographies.
2. TECHNICAL PAPER PREPARATION
Please use spell check. Be sure your sentences are
complete and grammatically correct. There is continuity
within your paragraphs. Check the numbering of your
figures & tables and make sure that all appropriate
references are included.

2.1 Format
This document itself may be used as a template for
preparing your paper. Using this document as a
template
is very simple. Just type or cut-paste your material at
proper places.
For example type title of your paper in the title box.
Then replace the existing names of authors by new
names. Type abstract in the given abstract block and so
on.
If you do not want to use this document as a
template, prepare your technical paper in single-spaced,
double-column format, on A4 size paper. Set top,
bottom, left & right margins at about 17 millimeters. Do
not extend text, tables, figures, and equations into the
margins. The space between the two columns is 4
millimeters. Paragraph indentation is 4 millimeters. Use
both sided-justification for text. Use either one or two
spaces between sections, and between text and tables
or figures, to adjust the column length.
2.2 Typefaces and Sizes
Please use a proportional Arial typeface only and
embed all fonts. Table I provides samples of the
appropriate type sizes and styles to use.
Table 1
The title of table should be in Arial and at center of the
text.

2.3 Section Headings

A primary section heading is enumerated by an
Arabic numeral and is centered above the text. A
primary heading should be in capital letters.

2.4 Figures and Tables
Large figures and tables may span both columns, but
may not extend into the page margins. Figure captions
should be below the figures; table captions should be
above the tables.
All figures and tables must be in the text, near but not
before, they are first mentioned. Use the abbreviation
"Fig. 1,".

2.6 Units
Metric units are preferred for use in IEI PLC
publications. The use of the International System of
Units (SI Units) is advocated.
2.7 Abbreviations
Define Uncommon abbreviations, the first time they
are used in the text, even after they have been defined
in the abstract. Common abbreviations such as IEI, SI,
MKS, CGS, ac, dc, r.m.s need not be defined. Do not
use abbreviations in the title.
2.8 Math and Equations
Use either the Microsoft Equation Editor or the
MathType commercial add-on for MS Word for all math
objects in your paper.
Number equations consecutively with equation
numbers in parentheses flush with the right margin, as
in (1). Be sure that the symbols in your equation have
been defined before the equation appears or
