Another Baby

The

We have another Peruvian Godchild, Jake! His

mother, Rut was 12 years old when we first met her in
2007. She said we made such an impact in her life and
when you said you were going to return, you did. Now
9 1/2 years later were the Godparents of her baby.
Gods plans are so awesome. We look forward to
walking alongside this child as he grows in Christ.
On the first Friday of the month we had our
first movie night in the building that Asbury UMC built
this summer. We never announced the movie to the
community and still had close to 50 children. We start
off everything we do with the children with prayer and
thanks to God. They are starting to learn that even
though they dont have much, what they do have is a
blessing from God. Around half of these kids had never
seen a movie before. I thought that wed have
problems with so many kids during the movie, but
there were no problems at all because they were so
mesmerized.
We attended our first 18 year old birthday
party. It started out with a wonderful trout meal
followed by entertainment by a clown. Clowns are a
big deal at birthday parties for younger children and
baby showers so we were surprised to see one at an

eighteenth birthday party. The clown was very

funny and everyone enjoyed him including all the
teenagers. I told Jennifer that they dont have to
worry about their 18 year old getting drunk at this
party.
We traveled to Lima twice. These were
extra long trips because theyre working on the
road from Huancayo to Lima. The first trip was for
immigration reasons and the second was for
Jennifer and Katherine's flight to the states.
Theyre going to be in the states for 5 weeks.
Jennifer stocked up the freezer for me and she also
cooked some meals and froze them. I said as long
as I have peanut butter and jelly, Id survive:)

We humbly thank you for your continued

prayers and financial support. If you havent
yet, we ask that you would prayerfully
consider financially supporting this ministry
in Peru. Without more financial partners this
ministry can not continue to grow. We love
you all and thank you for being part of Gods
work in Peru.

Gods Word

When I was at church the other night I noticed a mother of one of the children from our
Kids Club/ feeding programs. As we were standing reading scripture, I noticed she just stood there
listening. There are no screens with scripture on the wall, and there are no pew Bibles. After the
service I walked over to say Hi and asked her if she had a Bible and she said no. I took my Bible
and handed it to her and said now you do. She looked at me and her eyes watered up. She was
trying not to cry and talk at the same time. I didnt want her to be embarrassed so I just said God
wanted you to have it and walked on. Another time at the same church I noticed a man that
walked around with a nice Bible case. I came to find out that he never had a Bible to put in it. So
one night when he was outside I walked over and handed him a Bible. The reaction was about the
same.
I grew up with Bibles all around. I knew how important the Bible was but I never thought
about how precious it was. I still have the Bible my parents gave me as a child and many other
Bibles. I never knew that to some people the written word of God was beyond reach. How
important is it to have the word of God at your disposal? I never thought about it growing up
because it always was. Now I see people that are hungry for the word. The same God that
breathed life into Adam also breathed inspiration into the writers of the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Knowing that the Bible is God-breathed is all the reason we need to consider it important. Jesus
said in Matthew 4:4 It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes
from the mouth of God.
We came to Peru because the Lord made it very clear that we were to serve Him here. I
never knew why He chose us and still dont. I came to Peru scared knowing that Im not qualified
to serve and teach others. One of the most encouraging quotes Ive heard is Jacob was a cheater,
Peter had a temper, David had an affair, Noah got drunk, Jonah ran from God, Paul was a
murderer, Gideon was insecure, Miriam was a gossip, Martha was a worrier, Thomas was a
doubter, Sara was impatient, Elijah was moody, Moses stuttered, Abraham was old, and Lazarus
was dead. God doesnt call the qualified, He qualifies the CALLED! He has taken the mistakes Ive
made and helped me use them to help others. It is a
honor to serve the Lord, but I cant imagine doing this
without His word.
His word is so important, whether in print or
audio for those that cant read. Thank you so much for
being apart of whats going on in Peru.
