1. To get to know something about the causative.

Students are asked to look at

some pictures and read the sentences below.

Have/get something done

To make somebody do something for us, we usually use had o got (past tense usually)
followed by a past participle. It is the so called causative use. Study the exmaples below:
I had/got my hair cut
I had/got my car repaired
Look at the difference bewteen these two sentences:
I painted my garage The person who painted the garage was the speaker.
I had my garage painted Somebody (normally a painter) painted the garage
for me.
This construction is also used to say that a disgrace or accident has happened to a
person:
He had his car stolen while he was in the supermarket Le robaron el coche
mientras estaba en el supermercado.

4. Grammar activities. Some activities are done to practise this structure. They
will also be corrected.

5. Speaking: In pairs, students have to fake a telephone conversation telling each

other things that somebody has done for them recently. They should use the
causative structure.
